Die Auswahl der Motive ist wirklich großartig und darunter gibt es Motive, die zum ersten Mal auf den slowenischen Briefmarken dargestellt sind und die die vielen verschiedenen Gesichter der Slowenischen Post präsentieren. Alle diese Briefmarken wurden bereits in verschiedenen philatelistischen Katalogen (Michel, Slovenika, …) vorgestellt und auch auf der Webseite www.wnsstamps.ch registriert (WNS ist ein weltweites Nummerierungssystem für Postwertzeichen) und mit den WNS- Nummern versehen. Die Kartause Jurklošter In Jurklošter oder dem einstigen »Mišji Dol« befinden sich die Reste eines Kartausenklosters, das um 1170 vom Gurker Bischof Heinrich gegründet wurde. Die Kartause Jurklošter war eine der drei ältesten Kartausen in Mitteleuropa und alle drei wurden auf dem Gebiet der heutigen Republik Slowenien gegründet. Am 23. April 2010 gewinnt Ljubljana und dadurch ganz Slowenien an internationaler Präsenz als Welthauptstadt des Buches 2010.

Alljährlich wird von der UNESCO auf Grund des besten Bewerbungsprogramms, eine Stadt zur Welthauptstadt des Buches ernannt. Dadurch soll die Literatur der breiten Öffentlichkeit näher gebracht und die Leute zum Lesen angeregt werden. Unter den sieben Anwärtern fiel im Juni 2008 am Sitz der UNESCO in Paris, Ljubljana die Ehre zu, diesen Titel vom 23. April 2010 bis zum 23. 10 Jahre der Umsetzung des CITES- Übereinkommens in Slowenien Die Artenvielfalt von Tieren und Pflanzen nimmt in der Natur infolge von verantwortungslosen menschlichen Eingriffen zunehmend ab. Die übermäßige Ausbeutung der natürlichen Ressourcen und der internationale Handel mit lebenden und toten Tieren und Pflanzen, ihren Bestandteilen und daraus hergestellten Produkten haben zahlreiche Arten an den Rand des Überlebens getrieben. Das Übereinkommen über den internationalen Handel mit gefährdeten wildlebenden Tier- und Pflanzenarten (CITES) trägt samt seinem effizienten Kontrollsystem unzweifelhaft zur Erhaltung von mehr als 33.000 Tier- und Pflanzenarten bei, die infolge des internationalen Handels gefährdet sind. Darunter befinden sich Elefanten, Nashörner, große Katzenarten, zahlreiche Echsen und Schlangen, Vögel, Fische, Lurche, Kakteen und Orchideen. Die im Vorjahr neu herausgegebene Serie von Dauermarken I feel Slovenia, präsentiert neben dem einheitlichen Symbol, der (Schutz)Marke Sloweniens, auch Schätze der reichen slowenischen Volkskunst, Gegenstände, die heute als Andenken für den touristischen Bedarf angefertigt werden. Auf der Briefmarke ist eine aus Holz geschnitzte Taube dargestellt, die den Heiligen Geist symbolisiert. Diese Taube wurde über dem Tisch in den Wohnräumen der Bauernhäuser aufgehängt. Das ausgewählte Thema der EUROPA- Briefmarken ist im Jahr 2010 das Kinderbuch. Die Briefmarken erscheinen in Kleinbögen mit acht Briefmarken, mit Zierfeld und drei breiteren Bogenrändern. In der Briefmarkenserie Slowenische Mythologie wird diesmal der „Kurent“ dargestellt, der Überbringer der Weinrebe. Über den Ursprung des Kurent sind sich die Fachleute noch nicht einig, auch die Verbindung zwischen dem mythologischen Wesen Kurent und der Faschingsfigur des Kurent oder Korent wurde noch nicht völlig erforscht. Die slowenischen Puppenspieler sind bereits seit Jahren anerkannt und angesehen. Auf fünf Briefmarken werden verschiedene Puppenarten abgebildet, bekannte Figuren aus den beliebten Puppentheatervorstellungen. Die Handpuppen werden von Pavliha dargestellt, die Marionetten vertritt Gašperček, die Schattenpuppen Desetnica, die Bunraku-Puppe Martin Krpan und die Stabpuppen Tinček Petelinček. Aus Anlass der WM-Qualifikationen der slowenischen Fußball- und Basketballmannschaft, fiel die Entscheidung zur Herausgabe von zwei runden Sonderbriefmarken, die im Kleinbogen zu 8 Marken (4 + 4) erscheinen wird. Der botanische Garten der Universität Ljubljana begeht im Jahr 2010 ein hohes Jubiläum, und zwar feiert er das 200- jährige Bestehen. Zu diesem Anlass erscheint eine Bildpostkarte.
