THE EDGESPORTS

The Irma Golf Course has been a busy place the past few weeks. Irma Golf The local nine-hole course hosted its Seniors’ Tournament on Monday, July 15. The seniors enjoyed a great day on the golf course with a bountiful meal to keep them going throughout the day. For the women, the winners were Correen Lar- Seniors’ son, Donna Hollar and Marlus Larson. The Irma Golf Course also recently hosted its Ladies’ Club Championship Tournament, on a hot Tuesday evening on July 23. Fourteen golfers competed for the club championship, and Lois Larson came out on top to win the title on her birthday. Ladies Club Pictured left, Kelly Short presented the Club Championship trophy to Larson following the tournament.

The Men’s Club Championship was post- Championship poned due to inclement weather. No alternate date has yet been set.

Kris Molle is making a push up the CPCA driver standings after a strong showing in Little Pine, Saskatchewan two weekends ago. Molle finished third in the aggregate after being top five in the fast times each day of the event. Unfortunately inclement weather restricted the Poundmaker, Saskatchewan event to just one day of races, but Molle came away with the win in his heat and the fifth fastest time of the day. Molle now sits sixth in the driver standings behind Jamie Laboucane (5), Dale Mitsuing (4), Ray Mitsuing (3), Brad McMann (2) and Todd Baptiste at the top of the leaderboard. Wainwright falls behind in Walk ‘n’ Roll Challenge

For the first time in a long time Wainwright is trailing Ponoka and Stettler in the Walk ‘n’ Roll Challenge.

Wainwright held the lead for many weeks throughout the summer, but the two other towns recently surpassed Wainwright in the number of trips logged for the annual summer challenge.

Residents are encouraged to park the vehicle and make trips to work, shopping or other activities by way of physical activity like walking, biking or rollerblad- ing. Residents in Wainwright and area can register on the Town of Wainwright website or smartphone app to log their trips and help contribute to Wain- wright’s total. The Walk ‘n’ Roll Challenge runs through the end of August.
