Prvikrat je človek oskrunil svojo mladost, kadar je prvikrat molčal, ko mu je srce ukazovalo, da naj govori. Iz živalske sebičnosti se je rodila strahopetnost ...” Ivan Cankar S treh strani pridemo na prizorišče festivala, k prastarim zidovom grajske kapele svetega Lovrenca na obronku mengeškega hriba Gobavice. Prva pot z jugovzhoda, mimo spominskega križa, je strma in se pne ob prepadu. Ostankov obrambnih obzidij tu ni. Morda jih celo nikoli ni bilo, saj je prepadno pobočje najbolje varovalo nekdanje prebivalce gradu, ki so se v skrajhni sili vedno zatekali v kapelo. Z jugozahodne strani je pot zložnejša. Mnogi domačini se še spominjajo nekdanjih kamnitih stopnic. Nosilci napredka so jih odstranili. Od tod do kapele je kratek vzpon, ki ga presekata dva obrambna okopa in jarka. Na to pot se priključi v rahlem zavoju z zahoda zložna široka steza, ki je nekdaj vodila ob severni strani grajskega dvora h kapeli. Po vseh treh poteh, ki imajo v izjemnem okolju tudi močno simboliko, prihajajo na festival otroci s starši, učitelji in prijatelji. Vsako leto znova se razveselim znanih veselih obrazov in se spomnim Prešernove gazele: “Med otroki si igrala, draga, lani ...” Posebno se razveselim novih in najmlajših, še nekoliko zaskrbljenih, ki bodo svojo pesem prvič povedali in po tem hitro skočili v objem staršev. Je še kaj lepšega! Ana Eržen je s svojo lepo poezijo odločno začela festival in vse opogumila.
