Arkansas AAU Summer Sizzler Championship Meet June 26, 27 & 28, 2015 SANCTIONED BY:  This event is sanctioned by the Amateur Athletic Union of the U. S., Inc.  All participants must have a current AAU membership.  AAU membership may not be included as part of the entry fee to the event.  AAU membership must be obtained before the competition begins. Participants are encouraged to visit the AAU web site www.aausports.org to obtain their membership Event code: Pending Host: Greene County Swim Team Meet Director: James Foster Location: Paragould Community Center, 3404 Linwood Drive/Hwy 49, Paragould Facility: This is an 8-lane 25 yard pool. We will be using the Colorado Timing System. The therapeutic pool will not be open. Parking: is available in north lot near ball fields. The Community Center Staff has asked that all swim meet participants park in these lots to keep parking open for indoor Community Center and outdoor water park patrons. Eligibility: All swimmers must have a 2015 AAU membership. All AAU registered swimmers are eligible. The entrant’s age as of July 30, 2015 will determine age for the duration of the meet due to the fact that swimmers must place in the District Championship in the age division they will compete in during the AAU Junior Olympic Games. Events: All events will be timed finals. Submit swimmer’s best short course yards times to ensure proper seeding. See attached event list. This event will be pre- seeded. Each team must provide their own person to use the lap counter and their own timers for each competitor in the 1500 event. Entry Limit: All swimmers are allowed a maximum of 5 individual and 2 relay events per session, with a maximum of 12 individual events and 4 relay events for the entire meet. Each team will be limited to entering 2 relay teams per relay event.

Warm-Up Procedure: We will determine warm-up times and lane assignments after all entries are received. They will be sent out with the psych sheet. Periodic breaks will be taken during each session and swimmers will have an opportunity to get in the water for cool down or warm up. Any swimmer who does not enter the pool feet first during any portion of a warm- up/warm-down period which requires feet first entry shall receive a warning for a first offense rather than a disqualification. Disqualifications are automatic for any subsequent violations. In the session in which the penalty is enforced, the swimmer cannot deck enter an event to replace the event from which they were removed. The warm-up rules also apply to the warm-up lane when it is in use during a session. Timers and Officials: We will need volunteers from each team participating. Please send in the names and contact information of stroke & turn officials from your team with your meet entries. Teams will be responsible for timing in specific lanes throughout the meet, a schedule will be sent out with the psych sheet. Please prepare your parents for this expectation. Meetings: Meeting times will be emailed to teams after meet entries have been received. Bullpen: No bullpen will be offered. It is the coaches and swimmers responsibility to make it behind the blocks or appropriate lanes. Awards: Individual Events: Medals for 1st – 3rd, Ribbons for 4th – 8th Relay Events: Medals for 1st – 3rd High Point Male and Female in each age group Team Trophies: 1st – 3rd combined boys and girls scores Age Divisions: 8 & Under, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-18. Relays will be 10 &Under, 12 & Under, 14 & Under and 18 & Under with the stipulations that at least one swimmer on the relay must be in that age group. For individual events that are swam together, awards and points will be given for 8 & Under, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, and 15-18. Entry Fees: Athlete surcharge $5.00/swimmer; individual events $4.00 each; Relays $16 each. No money will be refunded for scratches. Please make checks payable to Greene County Swim Club, 3 Victor Drive, Paragould, AR 72450. Team fees may be mailed in advance or paid at the meet. Cash or Credit Card will NOT be accepted. Entry fees must be paid prior to participation in the meet. Deck Entries: DECK ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED WHERE SPACE IS AVAILABLE. Deck entry fee is $15 per individual event for already registered athletes only. No heats will be added, and no new swimmers will be added. Deck entries will be accepted up to 30 minutes prior to the start of each session. Entry Deadline: Entries must be received by 7pm, Sunday, June 21, 2015. A psych sheet will be sent out by email no later than Tuesday, June 23 rd. The coaches are asked to review this. We will accept changes until 5pm, Wednesday, June 24th. Verification that your entries were received will be sent back via e-mail. AAU #’s: Please remember that no entries will be accepted without current AAU registration numbers. Please send proof of AAU membership with entry. Attending Coaches: All coaches must also be registered through AAU as a coach member and must have completed all mandatory AAU coaches training. Coaches must have their AAU membership card available. AAU Junior Olympic Qualification: Swimmers must place in the District Championship in the age division they will compete in during the AAU Junior Olympic Games.First, second and third place finishers in AAU District Championship Meets in individual events under 400M, will qualify. In addition, swimmers who meet or beat the USA Swimming long course “A” minimum time standard for all 200M, 400M, and 1500M events and “BB” time standards for events under 200M are eligible to compete. Qualification for the 400M and 1500M is by time only (A time is required). A qualified swimmer may swim in bonus events, as approved, for 50M, 100M, and 200M events. For every qualified event, a swimmer may enter 2 bonus events. Visit the AAU web site for complete details on qualifications, eligibility and rules.

New in 2013: For the following events: 1) 11-12 400 meter Freestyle, 2) 13-14 1500 meter Freestyle and3) 15-18 1500 meter Freestyle and 4) 400 IM. If room is available, the AAU Aquatics Committee will consider entries that do not meet the qualifying time standard. The remaining lanes will be filled accordingto best times until the heat is full (Post Scratches).

For the 8 & under division, USA Swimming long course time standards have not been established. The 8 &under division is open to any participant, however, he/she must submit an entry time to be used for seeding purpose and to verify that the athlete has swam in the event prior to the AAU Junior Olympic Games. Entries without times (NT) will not be accepted. Qualifying period is from August 1, 2014 through July 13, 2015.

Exhibition: Swimmers who placed 1-3 in events shorter than 200M at the State AAU Winter Championship must swim the event in which they placed as an exhibition swimmer. Those who have already placed in that event by time may also want to consider swimming the event as an exhibition swimmer, but this is their choice. Those swimmers who placed 1-3 in the Winter Qualifying meet in the 400 IM, 500 free and 1650 free do NOT need to swim those events as an exhibition swimmer since qualification is by time. Exhibition swimmers will not score points for the team and cannot get individual high point awards.

Please send a complete list of your exhibition swimmers and specify which events they are swimming exhibition. Scratch Rules: No money will be refunded for scratches. A swimmer who does not report by the final call will be entered as a no show. Check In: Positive check in for the 400 IM, 12 &U 500 free and the 1650 is required by 4:15 pm on Friday! Positive check in for the 500 free is required by 7:30am on Saturday! Concessions: Concessions will be available. NO GLASS CONTAINERS WILL BE ALLOWED ON THE POOL DECK. Heat Sheets: Heat Sheets for the entire 3 day meet will be available for $10. Results: Will be posted periodically throughout the meet in the aquatics center and will also be posted on Meet Mobile. Swim Shop & T-shirts: There will be a swim shop on site with suits, caps, goggles and other swim accessories. There will also be a custom design T-shirt shop on site. Seating: Seating is limited on deck. Please clear your items from your seating area once your swimmer’s session is complete. Items left on deck are left at your own risk. Swimmers are encouraged to set up tents outside of the pool area. Smoking: Smoking and the use of other tobacco products are prohibited on the deck, in the bleachers, locker rooms, outside in the tent area or other areas designed as swimmer rest areas. Designated smoking areas are around the front of the Community Center. Alcoholic Beverages: Alcoholic beverages are prohibited in all areas of the venue, including, but not limited to pool deck, bathrooms, spectator seating or standing areas, and in all areas used by swimmers. Rules and Safety: The 2015 USA Swimming official rules shall govern the meet, and all technical and administrative rules of USA Swimming will apply. Use of audio or video recording devices, including cell phone devices with such capability is absolutely prohibited in all dressing areas, locker rooms, bathrooms or any other location where swimmers may be dressing. Any person so found possessing such devices in these areas will immediately be removed from the meet with all fees forfeited, and subject to further AAU swimming sanctions and penalties. On deck changing is strongly discouraged. Every swimmer entered in the meet must be certified by an AAU team coach as being proficient in performing a racing start or must start each race from within the water. When unaccompanied by a member coach, it is the responsibility of the swimmer or the swimmers legal guardian to ensure compliance with this requirement. Facility Rules: The gym, fitness equipment, racquetball courts, classrooms, aerobic rooms and meeting rooms are off limits to swimmers and spectators. No unattended children are allowed in the Community Center. No wet swimmers are allowed in the Community Center – must be dry and have shoes, and shirts on to enter.
