Auburn University E-Day (Engineering Day) – This will be held on Friday, February 24, 2012. Programs will be explained, students and parents may interact with faculty members and AU engineering students, and tours of the engineering quad will be provided. Scholarship Opportunities
Best Buy Scholarship Program Scholarships are available in the amount of $1,000. Applications available at www.bestbuy-communityrelations.com or www.at15.com with a deadline of Feb. 15, 2012. Requirements: Students in grades 9-12 must be residents of either the U.S. or Puerto Rico.
RISE Scholarship Foundation Scholarships are available in the amount of $2,500. Applications available at www.risescholarshipfoundation.org. Deadline is Feb. 15, 2012. For more information, contact: [email protected].
North Alabama Educators Credit Union Scholarship – North Alabama Educators Credit Union is now accepting applications for a $1,500 Scholarship and a $750 Scholarship to be awarded in the spring of 2012. The student may choose any accredited college/university of their choice to apply. If you are a 2012 graduating high school senior and a NAECU member you may enter to win a scholarship. All students of public and private schools in Madison, Morgan or Limestone Counties are eligible to join North Alabama Educators Credit Union. Completed application, 250-word essay, transcript, letter of recommendation, and extensive listings of honors/community/volunteer service required. University of Alabama: The Balanced Man Scholarship - Awarded by Sig Ep Fraternity in amounts of $1000, $750, $500, and $250. Applications can be found at http://www.sigep.org/scholarship/default.asp. Requirements: Must be a high school senior whose life exemplifies a sound mind and a sound body; for students who plan to attend the University of Alabama in Fall 2012. 2012 Carmen Gum Memorial Scholarship awarded by Junior Achievement of North Alabama, Inc. Applications are available online at www.janaonline.org. Application deadline is February 9, 2012. Requirements: Must be a High School Senior in the North Alabama area who has participated in at least one Junior Achievement Program during high school and plan to attend a 2-4 year college/university. Must also write a 750- word essay describing how your Junior Achievement experience and volunteering prepared you. Resume, two reference letters and application must also be submitted.
2012 Ability Counts Poster Competition Awarded by the Alabama Governor’s Committee on Employees of People with Disabilities. Amounts range from $100-$300. Deadline of January 31, 2012. Abbot & Fenner Scholarship Program from Abbot & Fenner Business Consultants in the amount of $1000.00 each year to winners. Regions Bank Riding Forward Scholarship Essay Contest – Twenty-five (25) $5,000 scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors in Regions’ banking areas who will attend college this year. Buick Achievers Scholarship Program – One hundred $25,000 scholarships and one thousand $2,000 scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors and current undergraduates who plan to enroll full time in a four-year college or university in 2012-2013. Requirements: plan to major in a field of study focusing on engineering, technology, design or business with an industry in the automotive industry. Miami University in Oxford, OH is offering the 2011 Bridges Program, an all-expenses-paid, selective overnight program for high achieving, underrepresented high school seniors. Students who successfully complete the Bridges Program and apply for admission to Miami for Fall 2012 will receive a $50 admission application fee waiver. Successful participants will also receive a $2,500, four year renewable scholarship if they are accepted and enroll at the Miami University’s Oxford Campus for Fall 2012.
