Overview In this chapter, students take a tour of ancient Egyptian monuments to learn about the accomplishments of four pharaohs.

Objectives  Identify the three major periods of ancient Egyptian history: Old Kingdom, Middle Kingdom, and New Kingdom.  Explain the major accomplishments of four Egyptian pharaohs, including Hatshepsut and Ramses the Great.  Describe the accomplishments of these pharaohs and important information about the monuments they built.
