Health and Disability NGO Newsletter – October 2015 1 NGO Council information

The Productivity Commission’s report into social services On Wednesday (14 October) the NGO Council met in Wellington. We discussed the final report of the Productivity Commission’s investigation into how the government purchases social services and think it is important that you check it out. There is a different level of detail depending on how much time you have. There are several options, from the overview (1 page infographic) through to the full report (432 pages) with a summary (52 pages) in between. Here is a link to their website if you would like to see other information.

After the NGO Forum Thanks again to those of you who attended the Ministry of Health NGO Health & Disability Sector National Forum ‘How Good Are We: Measurement, Evaluation & Outcomes’ on 18 September – and thank you also to those of you who have shared your feedback about the day – this will help us plan future events.

We have now loaded several videos of presenters to YouTube in case you want to check in again on what they said. Videos include: Chai Chuah, the Hon. Bill English, Laura Black, Phil Walker, Robyn Shearer, Rachael Trotman and the Hon Te Ururoa Flavell. Many attendees rated these presenters highly in terms of usefulness and relevance to their work – so you may want to give them a second look or share the links with colleagues.

We hope to add videos of some of the other speakers soon – so subscribe to our YouTube channel or like us on Facebook to be alerted to when these are available.

You can also download most presenters’ powerpoint slides from our website.

Also – a reminder: Rachael Trotman invited people to share their evaluation experiences with the Community Research team so these could be used as case studies for the new ‘What Works’ website. The details of where to share these were hard to read on the slide – They are: [email protected] or phone Manu on 021 821 850.
