Forsyth County Feral Cat Program

Feral Cat Program of Georgia Adoption Terms and Conditions

1. The Adopter must be at least eighteen (18) years of age to sign the release forms and accept responsibility for the cat and must be willing to present a valid drivers license, if requested. 2. Unless pre-approved by the FCPG Chair/Co-Chair: a. No kitten under the age of six (6) months may be placed in homes with children under six (6) years of age. b. Due to the high incidence of behavioral problems associated with declawing, FCPG cats MAY NOT BE DECLAWED. If any cat is declawed after the adoption the FCPG has the right to remove the cat from the Adopter. c. The adopter agrees to not relinquish this cat to any other shelter, society or person other than the FCPG. d. No cat may be adopted as a gift unless the recipient is related to and living in the same household as the Adopter, in which case the Adopter assumes full responsibility for the pet until the recipient is eighteen (18) years of age. e. No cat will be adopted to anyone deemed by the person fostering the animal or other member of the FCPG staff to be unsuitable or unable to provide a satisfactory, permanent home. f. No veterinary expenses will be incurred by the FCPG after the adoption date unless pre-approved by the FCPG Chair/Co-Chair. g. No cat will be adopted to anyone wanting strictly an outside cat. 3. FCPG reserves the right to conduct on-site inspections of the Adopter’s premises and to retrieve the cat if conditions so warrant. In case of such action, the Chair/Co-Chair will notify the Adopter in writing at the address provided by the Adopter. 4. The Adopter may return the cat for any reason, provided that they return all health records and other forms issued for a full refund of the adoption fee within seven (7) calendar days of the adoption date. Thereafter, no refunds will be made but the FCPG will accept return of the cat. 5. FCPG cats have been checked by a licensed veterinarian, are current on shots, deworming, spay/neuter based on age at adoption with exception of the FIV/FeLuk combo test which is not done by the FCPG. While everything possible has been done to assure each cat is healthy, there are no guarantees. If any signs of sickness occur within seven (7) calendar days the Adopter should contact the FCPG immediately, unless the Adopter is willing to have the cat treated at their own expense. The FCPG is not liable for any other animal becoming sick as a result of the adopted cat, for any adopted cat becoming sick outside the seven (7) day period or failure to properly notify within the seven (7) day period. 6. Should the cat become lost the Adopter should notify the FCPG Chair/Co-Chair within seventy-two (72) hours and report the date, time, location and situation of the cat becoming missing.
