At IAA Commercial Vehicles 2016 SOMMER is presenting numerous new items and further developments for the transport and CEP industry. Among the highlights are the new all- aluminum integral box body TIM for the CEP industry, the new lightweight box body for van chassis TGSL-K equipped with a particularly low load sill and the SOMMER Dolly with lightweight design for more payload in long vehicle combinations.

Laucha/Hanover, September 2016. – SOMMER will display a host of innovations and new developments once again at the IAA 2016. At its stand in Hall 27 the vehicle manufacturer is presenting three completely new vehicles. For first time SOMMER will present the TIM 60, an aluminum box body for vans build in mixed construction: The TIM has the standard driver's door and a sliding door on the passenger side of the cab. Thus it offers more shelf space in the body and an excellent price-performance ratio. The second novelty is the SOMMER TGSL-K, a super lightweight box body made of sandwich material and aluminum on a three-axle VW T6 with AL-KO chassis. Thanks to the tailgate and the low loading sill, the TGSL-K is ideally suited for furniture or trolley logistics. A Dolly for long vehicle combinations completes the range of new SOMMER products at the IAA. The dolly is designed lightweight, yet extremely robust and offers high load capacity and long service life.

For the first time SOMMER has combined the major features of the successful models for the CEP industry SOMMER TIC (sliding doors in the cabin) and SOMMER TIB (sliding in the body) and thus has developed a particularly economic and efficient solution: the SOMMER TIM.

SOMMER provides one of the most extensive programs of body and conversion solutions specifically for courier, express and parcel services. The new SOMMER TIM is an integral box body made of an all-aluminum rivet construction. It has a large cargo area, a raised driver’s cab and a direct passage from the cab into the cargo space with lockable door. The vehicle is equipped with a sliding side door on the passenger side of the cabin and combines robustness and low weight. The advantage: long service life and high payload. The sliding door in the cab allows safe exit on the side away from traffic. On the driver's side the SOMMER TIM in mixed construction is equipped with the original cab door of the motor car manufacturer. At the same time, this solution allows for maximum shelf length in the box body - more space to transport parcels safely and access the load easily. The cargo area is furnished with a robust shelf system. Automatically locking side and rear doors provide more security.

The sidewalls of the SOMMER TIM are made of aluminum. This quality construction has been tried and tested in parcel services for decades and is characterized by extreme robustness and durability. In addition, the aluminum outer skin can very easily and quickly be

3 / 9 repaired when damaged. On the outside, three riveted aluminum hat profiles with sturdy end caps serve as a side ram protection.

The load compartment is equipped with a robust and durable shelving system that ensures order and safety during transport, thanks to standard load securing devices such as slip edges or corrugated shelf surface. On request, the shelves are hinged and thus provide space for bulky goods. The shelves are designed for load capacity of about 500 kg.

The rear step made of anodized aluminum extends over the entire width of the vehicle and is mounted to the reinforced corner columns with spring brackets. Two nylon pads screwed on the spring brackets are used as collision protection for ramp loading.

The locking system locks the doors of the body automatically, thus protecting the load compartment. Unlocking is "key-less" by means of a transponder or from the inside with large switches. In addition, the vehicle is equipped with a start-stop system, enabling the driver to start the engine out using the car key by pressing a button in the dashboard.

SOMMER has further developed the lightweight box body for van chassis SOMMER TGSL and is now offering the new variant TGSL-K which provides a particularly low load sill and a tailgate usable as a loading ramp.

The SOMMER TGSL-K is a box body superstructure in lightweight design with a particularly low load sill. It is available, inter alia for VW Transporter T6 chassis with AL-KO chassis with 3.5 or 4.6 tonnes gross weight. The tailgate useable as loading ramp and the air suspension lowerable by 80 mm enable fastest and easiest loading and unloading of furniture, trolleys or other transport goods with highest payload and best cost-weight ratio.

Due to the consistent use of aluminum and lightweight wall concept SOMMER TGSL-K ( "Super-Light") has the highest payload in the class of light truck bodies. Thus, for example, the 4.40 m long box body on an AL-KO chassis only weighs 440 kg in the version with rear doors.

The standard roof of translucent fiberglass is extremely durable and allows plenty of daylight throughout the body. Available as an option is an insulated roof of 30 mm thick sandwich panels.

Aluminum lashing rails on the inside of the side walls form the basis for proper load securing. Many more load securing options are available. SOMMER also offers industry solutions for furniture logistics or trolley logistics, as for bakeries, nurseries, laundries, hospital logistics or catering company. The SOMMER TGSL-K industry solution for the furniture logistics is characterized by rod 5 / 9 lashing rails on the side walls, a particularly lightweight coating of the side walls with needle felt and a smooth bottom. Also an optional variant with an even deeper box body with wheelhouses is available.

SOMMER offers an aluminum rack for optimal loading of trolleys in several rows. The trolleys can be secured in the ranks individually using short locking rods or special fittings. The SOMMER TGSL-K industry solution for trolley logistics is further characterized by a non- slip and easy to clean floor, an insulated sandwich roof and optional lateral gill ventilation.

The three-axle chassis was developed by AL-KO especially for the VW T6 and allows the installation of a box body without additional substructure for both 13-inch tires as well as 17-inch tires. Frame and mounting flanges of the chassis are galvanized and thus protected against corrosion permanently.

With the SOMMER Dolly the vehicle manufacturer presents a particularly high payload capacity, yet durable solution for long vehicle combinations of rigid truck and semi-trailer. SOMMER has many years of experience in the design and construction of Dollys for Scandinavia.

The SOMMER Dolly is ideal for long vehicle combinations consisting of a rigid truck and a semi-trailer as they have been in use in Scandinavia for many years and are currently being tested in Germany and other European countries. The SOMMER Dolly utilizes a lightweight construction of high-strength structural steel quality. This ensures a very low weight of approximately 2200 kg and thus a high payload. The frame is galvanized and therefore permanently protected against corrosion.

The dolly is equipped with a length-adjustable drawbar with 650 mm coupling height. The towing eye is screwed, thus allowing a simple replacement. A hinged landing leg on the drawbar ensures stability when uncoupled. The two air-suspended 9 t axles are suitable for 22.5-inch tires. Furthermore, the SOMMER Dolly has an electronic brake system EBS, as well as double pneumatic and electric connections. The turntable of the fifth wheel is lockable. On request, aluminum wheels, an aluminum rear underrun protection, aluminum compressed air tank or LED rear lights and other options are available.

The SOMMER Dolly is characterized by simple handling, ease of maintenance and very low weight. The frame is galvanized. Axles, brakes and electrics are from well-known brand manufacturers. Advantage: long life and high availability. 7 / 9 SOMMER has many years of experience in the design and manufacturing of dollies for long vehicle combinations. Many transport companies in Northern Europe, parcel services and certain international companies have had SOMMER Dollies successfully in use for many years.
