Did you know…

 The USDA defines food insecurity as, “consistent access to adequate food is limited by a lack of money and other resources at times during the year.”  Food insecurity affects brain development, school outcomes, & behavior in children.  One in five adults and children in Eau Claire County are food insecure*.  Our community data matches data from national studies*.  At Prairie Ridge, 73% of children aged 3-5 qualify for free/reduced lunch. Our Purpose… We are committed to fighting hunger in preschool aged children and their families. When children are adequately fed, they are more ready to learn at school. Our committee is starting the fight with two big ideas:  To provide an emergency food pantry housed at Prairie Ridge Early Learning School where families have access to much needed food and personal care items.  To have a family garden at Prairie Ridge Early Learning School where children and their families will be educated on starting new plants, the importance of eating healthy and gardening skills.

How can you get involved… Join us on October 1 at Forage in Banbury place for a fall fashion show with Mainstream Boutique and Feisty Fit. The event begins at 6:00 p.m. The cost is $20/ticket. Reserve your spot at Mainstream Boutique. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Prairie Ridge Fight Against Hunger Committee.

Get your business involved by donating merchandise or services to the raffles for the fashion event.

With your generous contributions we can make a difference in the lives of children and the families we work with who are food insecure. Let’s fight hunger together as a community and see how far we can grow.
