Theme: How can we analyze the events, cultural trends and other elements that both shape and reflect this generation’s identity, attitudes and values? Description of Authentic Performance Task (APT) In this APT, students will interview a member of different generation. The interview should consist of a conversation discussing what attitudes and values are present that help shape each generation’s decisions on controversial topics such as the legalization of cannabis, immigration policy, and gay marriage. Before the interview students must create a list of at least ten questions or topics they would like to discuss with their interviewee. Students will then conduct the interview. After the interview, students will transcribe what was said and write a summary of their reactions to the interview answering the attached questions in at least a full one-chunk paragraph each. The APT will be graded on the following components:
1. List of ten interview questions/subjects for discussion 2. Students interview of a member of another generation 3. Transcription and notes from the interview 4. Interview response questions/summary
Student Eligibility to Submit APT Turn in ALL APT 2 assignments found in the class folder. All work must be complete and in Portfolio in proper order from oldest to newest with table of contents filled out completely and signed by student.

The list of questions should focus on the events or controversial topics we have discussed in class, but can include other points of interest as well
Component 2: Interview a Member of a Different Generation Students will conduct an interview with their chosen interviewee using the methods discussed in class Students must fill out the attached form and have it signed by the interviewee
Component 3: Transcription/Interview Notes Students write out their interview in a question and answer format
The transcription does not have to be exact, but should include specific quotes from the interviewee
Component 4: Interview Response Questions/Summary The following questions must be answered after the interview using the one-chunk method discussed in class including Topic Sentences (TS), Concrete Details (CDs), Commentary Details (CMs), and Concluding Statements (CMs) Copy down and answer the following questions on a separate piece of paper in at least one paragraph each o What were your interviewee’s opinions on the three controversial topics discussed in class? Were their opinions the same as yours? Why/why not? Were you surprised by their responses? o What ways did your interviewee suggest to bridge the gap between the generations? What actions can you put into place today to bridge the gap? o What advice did your interviewee have for people of your generation? Overall, what do you feel you have gained from this process?
