Northwest Kiwanis Board Meeting Agenda Meeting at MCL Cafeteria April 3, 2012

Board Members: Amy Boyd, Lee Spitzer, John Leutz, , Mike Toomey, George Kirsch, Ed Morgan, Jeanne Palmer, Craig Smith, Jim Cowardin , Jack Gibney, (Excused) Tim Arnold, Jeff Young (Absent), Jim Oyer (Excused) Secretary , Jim Cowardin There were no Club Bills. Motion to approve minutes of the March Board Meeting by Smith; seconded by Palmer Motion Passed Treasurer , Mike Toomey: Motion to accept Treasurer’s Report by Smith; seconded by Leutz Motion Passed MGE : Spitzer: Aryn Bates will be proposed for membership at the May board meeting. Lee will ask members to contact some members who may wish to join us more often. License Agency : Snellgrove: Report received. Copy of February financial results have been sent out. Receipts are ahead of last year. Added one additional person to staff. Fingerprinting business is going well. ATM machine is also very successful. Bill’s hours 7.5 for Feb and 13 in March. Soccer : Leutz Spring season starts in two weeks. Teams are being formed now. Kindergarten did online registration and it closed on March 31 at midnight. Only 115 have signed up for the Kindergarten league, which is 70 below the usual number. Community Services: Falkenbach:

President Amy visited the Grandview Library to view the activity wall which our contribution made possible.

No new requests.

Camp Wyandot project is well underway and should be completed soon.

Club members could go to camp on either April 21 or 28 to volunteer.

On April 28 there will be an event at the Mirolo Barn that we are invited to. There is a luncheon that day, and members are invited to starts at 11:30.

Se rvice Leadership: Cowardin No report. Grandview Schools have been on Spring Break. Interclub and Fellowship , Kirsch: Division Council meeting is at Washington Courthouse on April 11. Members interested in attending tell Chairman George. Interclub on March 7 was with the University Club and Craig Smith presented on Eliminate. Members attending were Ken Maykowski , George Kirsch, Craig Smith and Joe Sonderman Human and Spiritual Values , Garland First Lady Project—project needs to raise funds for expenses and Spitzer suggests a box be placed at the UA Library. Contact UA High School. Cowardin will have Service Leadership clubs concentrate on First Lady Project fundraising. Suggestion is to announce what the emphasis is on collecting for each meeting and who is collecting. Club Administration : Spitzer We will publicize our grants to service projects on the website, but normally, the amount of the grant will not be stated.. May 8—Board Meeting and annual meeting

Motion to move the April 17 meeting to 11:45 by Toomey, seconded by Smith. Motion Passed Motion to move the board meeting to May 8 made by Toomey, seconded by Smith. Motion passed. Motion to move May 1 meeting to St. Agatha Parish Hall by Leutz, seconded by Toomey Motion Passed Motion to send Lee Spitzer to the International Convention as a delegate made by Toomey, seconded by Smith. Motion passed April 11 Volunteer Day in UA President Amy will procure a spot for the club to be represented.

Public Relations/Website: Arnold Tim gave an overview of the website usage. Grants will be announced on the webpage, but will not include the amount or identifying info should the grant be to an individual Eliminate Project—Smith Plan to sell carnations on Mothers’ Day at soccer games—Will need volunteers at the fields to help sell flowers and talk about Kiwanis. Kiwanis I is offering a special Mothers Day Zeller. Motion to purchase a Zeller for Cheryl Snellgrove made by Toomey, seconded by Spitzer. Motion Passed Cheerio :Morgan:

Scholarships: Will Scholarship dinner has been planned. Asking each Kiwanian to attend the dinner. Scholarsip committee will meet on April 20 to decide the grantees. Fundraising , Toomey No Report Nominating Committee-Falkenbach Nominating committee will present a slate of officers at the next meeting.
