14th Dec 2017 Block 2, Week 4

From the Headteacher

KS1 Christmas Play: Our KS1 staff and children have been working hard on their play called ‘A Gift’. The final performance is this afternoon. It has been wonderful to have family members here to watch the children; this makes it a special occasion for them. ‘Thank you’ to everyone who helped by providing costumes and supporting the children with their lines.

Dress Up Friday: Four of our Y6 pupils have organised an event tomorrow to support Storehouse, the Trowbridge Food Bank. In exchange for a donation to the food bank, pupils can dress in Christmas themed clothes. The food bank would appreciate any tinned food, dried goods, toiletries and, as it is Christmas, any special Christmas biscuits. We hope to create a display in the hall of all the items we have collected.

Carols on the Playground: If the weather is dry, we shall be gathering on the playground and singing carols and Christmas songs on the last day of term. Parents and friends are welcome to join us from 2.15pm to sing along. Please note that this event is entirely dependent on dry weather so may have to be cancelled at short notice- we can cope with cold but not rain!

Snow Arrangements: As we had two members of staff stuck in snow in other parts of the country this week I thought it as well to remind you of the arrangements in the event of snow in Trowbridge.

We shall always do our best to keep the school open.

Should the school close, we will alert the local radio stations (BBC Wiltshire and Heart FM)before 8:00am. We will also announce the closure on our Twitter feed. Parents should listen out for the announcement or look online.

If there is no announcement, parents can assume that school is open as normal.

Please do not telephone the school to ask. Running the school is dependent on having enough members of staff to safely supervise the children. We need the telephone lines to be open for teachers to ring in. In rare instances, Wiltshire Council may decide to close all its schools. If this is the case, it will be announced on the local radio.

If it should snow heavily during the school day, parents are able to collect their children early. Should we have to close the school when the children are already here, we will use the contact numbers we hold in the office to alert parents.

Remember: We shall always do our best to keep the school open.

Term Two ends on Wednesday at 3.00 pm. School re-opens for pupils on Monday 8th January 2018.
