Course Overview The study of Geometry includes math vocabulary, organization of proofs, points, lines, planes and angles, parallel lines and planes, transformations and congruence, congruent triangles, similar polygons, right triangles, circles, areas of plane and solid figures, volumes and surface areas of solids, using formulas in solving problems, visualizing geometric situations, and using geometric ideas in real situations.

The objective of this course is to provide the student with the requisite foundation for the study of advanced algebra and trigonometry.

Arrival to Class  Please be on time. Excessive tardiness will not be tolerated.  You will be allowed ONE unexcused tardy before disciplinary action occurs.  As soon as you arrive to class please complete the “Bell Ringer” and get prepared for today’s lesson.

No Food or Drink  Gum and candy are permitted unless wrappers and other chewed items are found left in the classroom.

Manners and Respect  Listen to all instructions  Please be nice to your classmates  I will not tolerate negative comments in MY CLASSROOM!

Hall Passes  You must have your agenda book to use a hall pass. Remember you have 15 total per nine weeks (for all classes).

Supplies  2 inches 3 Ring Binder  Dividers  Pencils are REQUIRED  Paper  Graphing paper

Donations of the following items will be greatly appreciated for the health of the class.  Tissues  Disinfecting Wipes  Paper Towels

Teacher Wish List: Colored computer paper and/or card stock, glue sticks, markers, post its, blue or green painters masking tape.

The following items will be needed at home to complete homework.

 Calculator  Ruler  Compass  Protractor

Assignments  Please always label your paper with your name, date and assignment.

Grading  Homework/ class participation 10%  Summative Quizzes and Projects 35%  Tests 55%

1. All assignments/assessments are due on the due date of the assignment/assessment unless you have an excused absence (in accordance to the student handbook). 2. You will not receive a grade for late assignments or projects. I will offer extra assignments to make up the points for your missing assignment because extra effort deserved extra credit in my classroom. 3. If you are missing 2 assignments in a row you will have the option to stand during the next day of instruction or be assigned to Friday School.
