General Business 1 Review of the Board minutes recorded at the previous meeting held on 20 November 2015, and subsequent correspondence The previous NRAB minutes were taken as true Tonya Kara and seconded by Kay McLaughlin.

2 NRAB Structure, Composition, and Mardi Thompson was welcomed to Function the NRAB as the consumer rep.

Jo-Anne Dean has tended her Murray Leikis resignation due to other commitments and inability to attend. A replacement person in a Service Leader/ Manager role will be sought by EOI through the renal heads of units.

Regional Roundup 3 Northern Counties Manukau will be opening the new unit in partnership with Diaverum. Will be a 30 station unit Murray Leikis and will recall patients dialysing out of CMDHB. The Private Nephrocare unit has closed. Waikato Starship children’s hospital is 30% down on SMO staff leading to Rachael Walker Central potential for compromised care. Letter of concern to be written to Starship. Auckland Haemodialysis capacity Southern remains tight. John Collins retiring in May. Northland DHB will change the Renal Clinical Director role to Walaa Saweirs.

No changes have yet occurred in Palmerston North. KHNZ have been involved in discussions with Whanganui and Palmerston North regarding patient care. The NAG group will investigate what nursing roles are being established and how they are supported.

Christchurch will readvertise for the clinical psychologist to support their transplantation programme. They are restructuring their transplant coordinator team. They have also had more structural damage to their hospital dialysis unit. Previous issues with the council picking up home dialysis rubbish waste have been resolved with the council continuing to pick up the extra rubbish volume. New Business 4 Correspondence Nil

General 5 NZ Chapter of the ANZSN council continues to progress the governance changes of its subcommittees. ANZSN No local updates.

Auckland District Health Board – Templates – March 2010 6 Nephrology Advanced training national scheme on hold for now. Advanced Training SAC have some concerns over the number of projects that are not being approved and are in contact with the RACP over details for the NZ trainees. There is a new NZ Adult Medicine Division Education Committee Chair – Dr Russell Anscombe 7 Tier 2 document Updated version of Standards and Audit documents was presented and discussed. All committee members update are to review and feed back to Fredric Doss who will collate responses. Agreed to keep infrastructure All standards proscriptive but clinical standards only based on quality data.

Feedback from the MOH team regarding PUCs for the Tier 2 specs has been received and will be Ian incorporated by Drs Kara and Dittmer. Dittmer/Tonya Kara 8 RRT access in NZ Latest draft presented. Dr Leikis to incorporate further suggestions and send out to HODs for review. Murray Leikis 9 PTAC Nephrology Next meeting not due until October. subcommittee And Medicines 10 Vaccination Vaccination schedule has been published in NZ Doctor. Dr Kara to send to HODs. Need to publish a version Schedule online with links to KHNZ and National Transplant website. Tonya Kara 12 11 CKD National The roll out of this programme has been slower than expected. KHNZ have secured some funding to help Strategy with PHO education. These needs to progress across the country in 2016. Dialysis 12 Holiday Dialysis KHNZ have had engaged in discussion with the MOH. Some ambiguity over entitlement to chronic treatment on holidays. KHNZ will also raise this with the national meeting of GMs for Planning and funding. 13 PD Registry Progress continuing on data clean up. Update / PDOPPS update 14 Disaster Planning, Progress meeting cancelled due to emergency. Nil new. Kay patient and service McLaughlin preparedness 15 Health Alliance Health Alliance has moved to align all PD contracts to complete at end of June 2017. Will work to a national Murray Leikis Contracts procurement to start then. Need a meeting with representation of the 4 regions to ensure that appropriate clinical parameters will be met in the contract negotiations. Fredric Doss Transplant 16 National Tx activity Discussion over recent confidentiality breaches in the media for deceased donors and recipient details. Nick Cross Current protocol is to keep the allocation details confidential although it is recognised that NZ is a small society and breaches can easily occur. The National Renal Transplant Leadership Team will write to ODNZ Auckland District Health Board – Templates – March 2010 to clarity over the policy around recipient details 17 Kidney Exchange There continues to be a low uptake in NZ with the Kidney exchange. Unclear reasons why pairs are not keen Nick Cross/ to join the scheme. Progress continues with the Australian programme to amalgamate. Ian Dittmer Nick Cross to send to units a guideline on the agreed minimum standards for a donor to join the programme. 18 National Renal Quality metrics are now being produced but low numbers so far make data hard to analyse. 3 further metrics Nick Cross Transplant are being developed. Service. Standard Report Updates 19 Report on Kidney Kidney Health NZ continues to receive a lot of enquires on all matters. Max Reid Health New They have approved 2 research grants this year. Zealand KHNA are continuing ot monitor the situation in Palmerston north in order to ensure the best welfare and outcome for the patients. Concern raised over the decisions from the MOH to not include renal services in the long term conditions work programme. Currently the MOH has focused on renal services only with respect to Transplantation which is only a small part of the renal work spectrum 20 Subcommittee reports

1. Standards & Progress continues on specific consent form for NZ patients and re-consenting for patients transitioning into Tonya Kara Audits adulthood.

2. RSA / Nursing Fredric Doss is the new chair of the RSA. Advisory Group

3. NZ Board of No update Dialysis Practice 21 Ministry of Health a. Organ Donation New Zealand Review: A Review of Organ Donation New Zealand is underway. Terms of Reference available. A panel has been selected and due to report 31 March 2016.

b. Transplant Bill Submission: Report form select committee now due back in Parliament in September 2016. IN the interim the MH is working on examining logistics of suggested options presented to the select committee. Other Business 22 New Work Streams NRAB website will be adjusted with topic based order of articles rather than date order. Drs Dittmer and Kara Ian Dittmer / for 2015 will work with the webteam to update. Tonya Kara

NRAB had significant input into the SNOMEDCT dataset for renal. Will continue to work with this group. Next Meeting
