27.03.10 PRESS RELEASE OUTER DISTRICT : DELHI POLICE GANG OF DESEPRATE AND DREADED INTERSTATE BURGLARS/ AUTOLIFTERS BUSTED With the arrest of desperate and dreaded criminals previously involved in cases of Burglaries / auto-lifting namely Iliyas (age 33 years.), Kadir (age 20 years), Hasnain (age 23 years) Janam Singh @ Sonu (age 18 years) and Yunus (age 35 years), the Outer District Operation Cell has busted a gang of hardcore interstate burglars / auto-lifters and solved 5 cases of burglaries and auto-lifting and recovered one country made pistol with one live round of 315 bore, one stolen Bolero Jeep and one TATA-407 used for commission of offences. BRIEF FACTS: Due to regular incidents of night burglaries by breaking walls/shutters in the area of Outer District during last 2-3 weeks, a special team comprising of Police officers of Operation Cell including SI Deepak Malik, SI Jasmohinder, HC Rohtash, HC Yogesh, HC Surender Dahiya, HC Balkishan, Ct. Sandeep, Ct. Hari, Ct. Surender, Ct. Pawan, Ct. Rajiv Raghav, Ct. Rajender, Ct. Laxman, Ct. Manish and Ct. Amit, under the leadership of Insp Puran Pant was constituted under the supervision of Sh. Ved Prakash, ACP/Operations and were deployed to develop information regarding active burglars/auto-lifters and to nab them. The dedicated team members were continuously working hard to nab the criminals involved since last three weeks. Efforts were also going on through electronic surveillance to track the criminals.

The dedicated team members also started working hard on this matter and spent many sleepless nights to identify the desperate active criminals and left no stone un-turn to achieve the target assigned to them. INVESTIGATION: On 26.03.10, at about 08:00 pm, a secret information was received by specially designated team members of special staff, Outer District that a gang of desperate burglars/auto-lifers armed with deadly weapons using stolen vehicles are gathering at Jalebi Chowk, Sultan Puri, Delhi to make a plan to burgle a shop in the area of Sultan Puri. The dedicated members immediately swung into action. At about 09.30 PM, 5 gang members reached at Jalebi Chowk, Sultan Puri, Delhi in a Bollero Jeep along with a Tata-407 bearing Regn. No. UP-14Z- 9217. The team members already positioned at the place narrowed on the gang members from all sides leaving no scope for anybody to flee away. All 5 gang members gathered were apprehended by the team. One Iliyas took out a loaded country made pistol and tried to fire but was promptly overpowered by Ct. Hari Chand. One loaded country made pistol and a live cartridge of 315 bore was recovered from Iliyas, who had come with Tata-407. Other four persons namely Kadir, Hasnain, Janam Singh @ Sonu and Yunus had come to spot on Bollero Jeep. The Bollero Jeep bearing fake number plate was found to be stolen from the area of PS Vasant Kunj and a case vide FIR No. 234/09, u/s 379 IPC PS Palam, Delhi was found to be registered in this regard. A case vide FIR No.94/10 dated 26.03.10 u/s 25/27/54/59 Arms Act, PS Sultan Puri, Delhi was got registered against accused Iliyas and other four accused were arrested u/s 41.1 (d) CrPC. INTERROGATION: On sustained interrogation, it was revealed that accused persons used to steal vehicles for using the same while committing night burglaries. The gang also steals fishes from ponds during night from Bullandsheher, Meerut, Baraut, Garh, Muradabad, Bareli, Gajroula, Khurja and Sambhal. Stealing of fishes is their regular phenomena. Within a short span of last 1-1/2 months, the gang had stolen fishes from ponds 29 times.

The accused persons confessed to have committed burglaries of (1) 20 Quintal bories of wheat from Badot, (2) 150 Inverter Batteries from Muradabad, (3) 33 batteries of a mobile tower from Aligarh By- pass, Bullandshehar, UP, (4) 25 Quintal bags of pulses from Prakshit Garh, (5) 10 Goats from Khora near Gajipur and (6) One Golden statue of God from Hapur, UP. PROFILE:

1. Iliyas s/o Mohd. Hanif r/o Kaila Bhatta, Sadaq Ki Pulia, Kotwali, Ghaziabad UP, age 33 years. He is studied up-to 8th standard. He is previously involved in five cases. 2. Kadir s/o Quajum r/o Kaila Bhatta near Kalila wali Masjid, PS Kotwali, Ghaziabad, age 20 years. He is studied up-to 8th standard only. He is previously involved in one case of 307 IPC PS Vijay Nagar Ghaziabad, UP. 3. Hasnain s/o Ibrahim near Kalila Bhatta, PS Kotwali, Ghaziabad, UP, age 23 years. He is previously involved in one case of Arms Act, PS Kotwali, Ghaziabad, UP. 4. Janam Singh @ Sonu s/o Satpal Singh r/o H. No. 14 Gali No. 4, Shiv Puri, Hapur, Ghaziabad, UP. (Permanent Address Village Atoota, Babu Garh, Garh Road, Hapur, UP) age 18 years. He is studied up-to 12th standard. 5. Yunus s/o Sabbir Ahmed r/o H. No. 139, Lath Maar Colony, Behind Amberkar Statue, by-pass, Vijay Nagar, Ghaziabad, UP, age 35 years. He is studied up-to 10th standard. He is previously involved in three cases of 307 IPC, 380/411 IPC & 25 Arms Act. ACTION TAKEN: Arrested vide case FIR No. 94/10, dated 26.03.10, u/s 25/27/54/59 Arms Act registered at PS Sultan Puri, Delhi and concerned Police Stations of Delhi and UP have been informed accordingly. RECOVERY:

1. One TATA-407 bearing Registration No. UP14Z-9217 being used for commission of offence. 2. One Bolero Jeep No. DL-2CQ-3801, stolen from Palam area. 3. One Country made Pistol of 315 bore. 4. One live cartridge of 315 bore.

GANG OF BURGLARS BUSTED AND STOLEN PROPERTY RECOVERED

With the arrest of an active burglar namely Hanif s/o Sadiq r/o Allahabad Bank Wali Gali, Alipur and receiver of stolen property namely Jawahar Shah s/o Sahdev Shah r/o 82, Main Market Samaypur Badli, Delhi, the Outer District Police has busted a gang of burglars who was active in committing burglaries of food grains from godowns in the area of PSs Alipur and Samaypur Badli. ACCUSED PERSON : 1. Hanif s/o Sadiq r/o Allahabad Bank Wali Gali, Alipur, Delhi. 2. Jawahar Shah s/o Sehdev Shah r/o Rajbir Ka makan No. 82, main market Samaypur, Delhi. INCIDENT : On the night intervening 24/25-03-10, a burglary was committed in a food grain godown in the jurisdiction of PS Alipur. A total of 97 bags of rice (each having 20 kg of rice) were reported to be stolen. A case vide FIR No. 84/10 u/s 457/380 IPC PS Alipur was registered in this regard.

On the night intervening 25/26-03-10, HC Babu Ram, 81/OD, HC Surender, 1305/OD and CT. Surender, 987/OD posted in PS Samaypur Badli were performing patrolling duty in a very active and sincere manner near Railway Road Samaypur. At about 09.20 P.M, they got specific secret information that 5-6 boys along with Canter No. DL-1 LG-7615 will come along with bags of stolen rice to dispose off them at a grocery shop in the area of Samaypur Badli. On this information, they immediately swung into action and organized a raiding party. They spotted the above Canter outside house No. 368/2, Gali No.11, Samaypur and found 5-6 boys were removing the rice bags from the Canter to godown. They apprehended Hanif from the Canter. His 4-5 associates managed to flee away due to darkness. The raiding team went inside the godown and overpowered Jawahar Shah who was keeping the rice bags in a symmetrical manner. On checking, all the stolen 97 bags of rice were recovered from the Canter and godown. Two iron rods used for breaking open the locks and shutters along with a dagger was also recovered from the Canter and seized. Both the accused persons were arrested U/S 41.1 D Cr.P.C INTERROGATION : During the course of sustained interrogation, they confessed the commission of burglary in the area of PS Alipur. The names of the absconding co-accused are Pappan, Kale, Ajay, Sonu and Sanjay. MODUS OPERANDI : Jawahar Shah is running a Grocery Shop in Village Samaypur. He used to identify the food grain godowns in the area of PS Alipur and PS Samaypur Badli and pass on the information to his associates of the gang. The gang members have befriended the driver of the above Canter for transportation and disposal of stolen property. Jawahar Shah used to purchase the food grains at cheaper prices and sell these items through his Grocery Shop. The booty of the stolen property was equally shared by the gang members. They carry iron rods for breaking open the locks and shutters of the godowns and dagger for scaring the Security Guards and labourers, if found present. They had also committed similar types of burglaries in the area of both the Police Stations in the past and the stolen property was sold to Jawahar Shah. PROFILE : Hanif, age 22 years is a school dropout from 5th class. He used to sell clothes on cycle in unauthorized colonies. He had joined this gang 2-3 months before. The other gang members are absconding and sincere efforts are being made for their arrest.

Jawahar Shah, age about 50 years is originally resident of Bhagalpur, Bihar. He came to Delhi 20-25 years ago and worked as Security Guard in different factories and godowns of Alipur and Samaypur Badli. He left the job of Security Guard and started a Grocery Shop in a rented premise. Due to his previous experience of service as a guard, he had the knowledge of the food grain godowns. He used to pass on the information to his associates for committing burglaries.
