Co-Rec Volleyball League Rules
1. Be on time. 2. Each match has a total of three points. One point will be awarded to the winner of each of the first three games of each match. 3. Each team is responsible for contacting their opponent in the case of cancellation, postponement, or change. The gym is available at different times for make-up games. Please contact the Community Center to schedule make-up games. 4. Six people per team play. To qualify for Co-Rec League, teams must have a minimum of two girls playing in each match to qualify. All players must be on your team roster prior to your match. If members of your team do not show for the match, you may not sub a member from another team. If team uses a player(s) not listed on team roster, the match will be forfeited to opponent. 5. RALLY PLAY scoring will be used. A point is scored each time the ball is put into play. RALLY games will be played to 25 points each with a 27-point cap. Teams must win by two points unless the cap is reached. In that case, a 27-26 score results in victory. 6. You may serve over- or under-handed. 7. NET SERVES crossing the net remain in play. 8. Stay out of the net, or the ball will be forfeited to the other team. 9. Spiking and Blocking a) You may spike. However, the intent of Co-Rec league is that it should be played at more of a recreational pace. b) No blocking the ball on the serve; the ball must be bumped. The ball must break the plane of the net on the opponent’s side of the net before the ball can be hit and/or returned. For violation of this rule, a point will be awarded to the serving team. c) When players rotate to the back row, they are not eligible to move to the front row for the purpose of spiking. However, they may rotate forward to block. For violation of this rule, a point will be awarded to serving team or possession of the ball will be given to the receiving team. 10.Balls hit on the ceiling may be played only on your side of the court. A ball hit on the opponent’s side of the ceiling or off your side to opponent’s side of the ceiling is considered out. 11.Games are to be played within the black lines. Players must be in the court when serving or receiving the ball. The server must stand behind the serving line when serving. If the ball hits the line, it is considered “in play”. 12.The ball must be struck, not lifted or pushed. The ball cannot physically rest on hand(s) or arm(s). 13.If the ball hits the body below the waist, the ball is considered dead. (i.e.: The ball cannot be played off the knee.) 14.Some MULTIPLE CONTACTS are allowed by one player during one attempt to play the ball. a) When the first ball over the net rebounds from one part of the player’s body to one or more other legal parts (above waist). b) On first team’s first hit, whether or not the ball is touched by the block. (i.e. The ball may hit your chest after leaving your hand while attempting to retrieve a serve.) 15.If there is doubt about a net call, point, line, or etc, REPLAY. Co-Rec Volleyball League is for recreational play. Let’s keep it fun and be GOOD SPORTS!
