What is Satyanarayana Puja

Lord Satyanarayana is another form of Lord Vishnu who is commonly worshipped by Hindus in their homes. He has four hands like Lord Vishnu, however, his fourth hand does not hold a lotus rather it is extended upward to bless people.

The worship is performed usually on a full moon (purnima) day of the month by reciting the gracious story of the Lord which was once told by Lord Vishnu himself to sage Narada for the benefit of humankind.

The Lord's grace is described in a Hindu book called Skanda Purana.

Puja includes: Sankalpam, Ganapathi Puja, Pancha Loka Palaka Puja, Navagraha Puja, Indradi Ashta Dikpalaka Puja, Sri Satya Narayana Swamy Puja with shodasopacharas, Asthottara, Katha (story) followed by Aarthi.

Puja sponsorship fee (includes Archana): $25 Additional donations are very welcome sponsors / sponsoring families will have an opportunity to perform the Puja / Vratham personally.  Each sponsors/sponsoring family will be provided with a picture of the lord and a puja package which includes fruits, flowers, kumkum and turmeric.  Names of the sponsors and family members will be included in the sankalpam to the lord.

 If you would like to sponsor the Puja, please send your name, birth star and gothram of each family member to [email protected]. It will help us in preparing a detailed sankalpam accordingly well in advance. You can also provide this information at the temple during the puja. All donations to the Temple are Tax Deductible as the Hindu Samaj Temple is A Non-Profit Entity As Per IRS # 501(C)(3).
