2,159 new and existing client families received services.

293 families attended Home Buyer Education Classes (141), Gateway Orientation (127), and Homestead Placement Classes (25), with the sessions earning average satisfaction ratings of 95% from attendees. 166 families received pre-purchase counseling to prepare for a home purchase in DuPage County. 34 families completed counseling and purchased homes, including 22 low-income households through Homestead, 4 families through DuPage County’s Neighborhood Stabilization Program, 3 family through DuPage Habitat for Humanity, 3 families using Equity Sharing Partners, and 2 using conventional financing. 4 additional families were shopping for homes at the end of the fiscal year. 375 new Illinois Hardest Hit client cases in FY14 were processed or are in process, helping unemployed or underemployed DuPage families with temporary assistance to bring their mortgage current or make mortgage payments while they look for another job. 147 received mortgage assistance. 301 families attended Foreclosure Prevention Workshops to learn about options and community services to help them save their homes and as the first step to foreclosure prevention counseling. DHOC also provided foreclosure counseling for families in crisis at 3 Regional Mortgage Relief Events in conjunction with the State of Illinois and the Illinois Housing Development Authority. 567 families attended default counseling, and 200 families prevented foreclosure including: 91 obtained modifications, 92 brought their mortgages current, 7 refinanced, 6 sold their homes, 3 obtained a deed-in-lieu, and 1 obtained a forbearance. 18 cash-strapped senior homeowners completed counseling to assess their financial options, with 3 obtaining a reverse mortgage or other financing to increase their cash flow. 25 households attended financial literacy workshops to improve their money management skills.

41 clients attended workshops offered through DHOC’s newest program – Financial Fitness. 105 homeowner households were met through the Counselor in the Court program in DuPage’s 18th Judicial Circuit Court, and 121 new and existing CIC clients were counseled. This program places a DHOC counselor in the courtroom to connect families in foreclosure court with available resources to help prevent foreclosure. In addition, DHOC sponsored two Affordable Housing Breakfasts in cooperation with Wheaton College to offer networking and informational opportunities for housing advocates and industry professionals.
