Dear Parents,

As the school year comes to an end, we are beginning the process of creating class groupings for next year. We use as much information as possible in the creation of classes. This is your opportunity to add to our information base to assist us in making the best possible choice for your child’s class assignment. If there is information you would like to share with staff, please complete the Student Information Profile and return it to school no later than June 1, 2009. Also complete and return the attached letter regarding your plans for next year. This is helpful to adequately plan our program for next year. Our goal is to create balanced, heterogeneous classes in which children and teachers can be happy and productive. We seek to achieve balance in terms of sex, level of academic achievement, racial/ethnic groups, leaders and followers, learning rates, work/study skills, behavioral issues, and special needs. We look carefully at children who work well together and motivate each other. We try to separate children who have a negative effect on one another.

The process of forming class groups starts soon. These groupings are tentative and subject to major reorganization during the summer because of unexpected increases or decreases in the number of students. Again, if you wish to share your perceptions of your child, complete and return the Student Information Profile. This information will be shared with staff involved in creating class groupings. We value and consider your input, but we request that you refrain from requesting specific teachers.

Sincerely,

Jimmy Sweeney, Principal

ELO Reminder The deadline to register for ELO is May 8th. Please make sure to get your forms in by that time. We will not accept registrations after this date!
