Charles E. Bull Creative Writing Award Cover Sheet Deadline: February 24, 2014

These awards, established by Charles E. Bull, a 1937 English Education graduate of Northern Arizona University, recognize the best short story and the best poem submitted by an English major or English graduate student.

Eligibility: To be eligible for this award, you must

(1) be a declared BA in English or BS in English Education major (i.e., BS in Ed. Secondary Education: English) or a graduate student in one of the English Department’s four graduate programs (MA, MA-TESL, MFA, PHD);

(2) enroll in courses during the 2014-2015 academic year, when awards will be disbursed;

(3) by February 24, 2014, have at least sophomore status with a minimum of 6 completed hours of NAU English courses beyond composition if you are an undergraduate English major or have completed 9 hours at NAU if you are a graduate student in English;.

Note: To allow for a “blind” reading, do not put your name on your submitted story or poem. All writing must be typed/printed and stapled to this cover sheet. Prose must be double-spaced. We do not return originals. You must also attach a signed copy of the “Scholarship FERPA Statement” for release of information (see next page). Work should be submitted to the English Department office in the Liberal Arts Building, Room 140 (or mailed to Scholarships, Department of English, Box 6032, NAU, Flagstaff, AZ 86011-6032).

By submitting the NAU College of Arts & Letters Scholarship Application Form you are giving your consent for NAU to release your personal information to donors who will be considering you for scholarships. This includes, but is not limited to, your application information (résumé, letter, etc.) GPA, year in school, financial need, major, etc. Also, should you be selected to receive a scholarship, the donor may request updates of your progress at NAU including GPA, classes taken, financial need, etc. Only donors seriously considering you for scholarships and approved by the NAU Scholarship Office may have access to this information and no information will be provided to any other outside sources. Submission of this interest form confirms that you agree to these terms and conditions.
