- The Jubilee Fund is open to all College graduates from 2012 onwards, including those graduating in 2017. A company need only include one Rose Bruford College graduate in the cast or crew to qualify; - Applicants should submit details about an existing production (or at least something that is near finished) with small cast (up to about 5 people), minimal tech requirements and running time of approx. 1 hour. We can only consider shows of genuine quality and not speculative ideas; - Applicants will need to commit to a minimum of two or maximum of a four week run with shows each day (timetabled by the College)—we can only consider a two-week run if another show can fill the remaining two weeks; - Applicants must provide detailed information about the production – synopsis, full technical requirements, cast and crew biographies, designs, previous show photography or videos etc. and suggested ticket and concession prices (tba with RBC); - We would like to see details of any previous performances, video links and reviews (if any); - Applicants must submit references from two referees, at least one of which must not be a member of college staff; - Applicants must submit a detailed marketing plan, suggested images and a fully costed budget; - Applicants must provide a statement about what they would like to achieve by showing in Edinburgh.
Successful applicants would receive free use of space, front of house, production and technical support, plus some College generated marketing support and advice, including a listing in the Summerhall programme and on the College website. Productions must agree to a 50% profit share with the College on all box office sales after deductions for ticket sales commission.
Companies will need to register with the Fringe and cover this cost themselves. Rose Bruford Jubilee Fund 2017 Companies will have to pay their own travel and accommodation costs and the cost of producing flyers. The College cannot help with securing accommodations.
Companies will need to cover their own stage management and technical operations and agree to pay an added charge of £150 as part of an overall contribution to the hire of equipment and seating for the venue.
There will be one fixed seating and stage plan. Sets, props and costumes need to be kept to a minimum as there is no storage or backstage facilities in the venue. There will be a dressing room.
Companies new to working at the Edinburgh Fringe will be asked to attend a spring information session at RBC in order to prepare them for marketing their shows and surviving the Fringe experience.
Companies will be able to share a limited number of passes to see other productions in Summerhall. But all companies will be asked to volunteer hours to performance ushering/front of house duties.
Depending on the number of applicants and the quality of shows, we expect to support between three to five companies in this way.
Other more commercially contracted shows that are not subsidised by the Jubilee Fund will fill the remaining slots.
There will be eight slots across the day with shows running from 12:00 noon to 24:00 midnight. Mornings will be used for educational and other income generating events.
