CHARITIY SHOP & EBAY COORDINATOR

Job Title: Charity Shop and eBay Coordinator

Salary: £6,552 (Pro-rota) £13,468 (Full time)

Hours: 18 hours per week (3 days a week, including weekends)

Location: Farnborough

Accountable to: Shops & Community Engagement Manager

Job Purpose:

To be responsible for the effective operation of the shop with responsibility for:

 Coordinating day to day running of the shop and develop eBay sales.  Optimising sales.  Maintaining effective stock management and merchandising  Managing and training shop volunteers.  Carrying out shop administration.  Ensuring compliance with trading standards and Health and Safety

SPECIFIC DUTIES

 Following the instructions of the Shops & Community Engagement Manager in relation the day to day responsibility for managing the shop and increasing income through eBay sales.  Discuss with the Shop Manager at regular agreed intervals on progress and improvements for the shop.  To maintain an awareness of developments in local shops, especially in the charity sector, updating the Shops & Community Engagement Manager as required.  To maintain and develop good channels of communication with ACH clients and colleagues in other ACH shops, local communities and organisations.  To assist with cover from time to time during holidays and sickness and possible in other stores (if applicable), as required by your Shops & Community Engagement Manager.  One day will be spent covering the S&CE Manager and two days will be working on eBay sales.

Optimising Sales

 To work with the S&CE Manager to ensure the shop meets it targets.  To play a key role with marketing campaigns and sales promotions to increase sales.  To ensuring the shop is competing effectively with local competitors.  To ensuring all volunteers maintain a high standard of customer care.  To play a key role in and facilitate the promotion of the store in the local community through initiatives, for example initiating stock appeals by writing to a local paper or working with local schools.  To sort donated stock with the utmost selectivity in order to maximise sales opportunities.  To keep stockroom clean and tidy, and the stock in good order.  Exercise necessary control of Bought in Goods.

Maintaining Effective Stock Management & Merchandising

 To manage the control of pricing of items for sale  To ensure the highest possible resale value of donated stock.  To apply suitable display, merchandising and window dressing standards.  To control stock density and rotation.  To work alongside the Shops & Community Engagement Manager to produce and roll out local stock and sales promotions.

Volunteer Management & Training

 Work with the S&CE Manager to develop the staff/volunteer team in the shop, encouraging effective communication, setting objectives, initiating work plans and helping to foster a positive team spirit through regular team meetings ensuring satisfactory performance.  To provide adequate supervision for any volunteers.  To work with the S&CE Manager in the recruitment and at times running a volunteer recruitment drive.

Administration

 To apply Trading Standards Regulations in the shop and ensure volunteers are aware of these.  Enforce cash register and banking procedures and ensure in your absence, volunteers are aware of necessary process for both procedures.  To assist the Manager ensuring the shop is adequately staffed, setting and maintaining rotas.  In the absence of the Manager complete all administrative paperwork as required for the post, ensure all administrative paperwork is maintained and managed in an orderly fashion in line with ACH Policy.

Premises Management

 To take leading role in the day to day responsibility for shop interior/housekeeping to ACH standard.  To ensure all shop equipment is kept in good working order.  Inform S&CE Manager or RM of necessary repairs and maintenance.

Security

 To act as a key holder.  To ensure the security of shop takings, cash and counter collection boxes are kept secure when managing the store.  To provide best circumstances for the personal security of volunteers.  To ensure staff do not bring valuable items or large amounts of cash onto the premises.  To ensure that security procedures are understood and implemented by all volunteers.  To apply ACH Health & Safety policy  To ensure that Health and Safety procedures are understood and implemented by all.  To ensure Fire Exits are kept clear and comply with Health and Safety Policy.

General

 To carry out these tasks and responsibilities with an understanding of and commitment to ACH equal opportunities policy.  To use new technology as required.  To do all within your powers to keep ACH property secure and in good working order.  To carry out any other duties deemed appropriate by the S&CE Manager and RDM.  To work with the S&CE Manager to develop and carry out fundraising and community involvement activities.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

QUALIFICATIONS  Educated to GCSE level or equivalent  Willingness to undertake a health and safety and other training as and when required

EXPERIENCE  Experience of working in a quick paced environment  Working within a diverse group of people  Experience of working with the general public  Numerate

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS  Good interpersonal skills  Ability to communicate effectively with customers, donators and volunteers  Knowledge of Trading standards Regulations and Health and Safety Act  Able to use own initiative, effectively organise and plan  Good written and numeric skills  Ability to use IT packages to a good standard
