Creation Evidence Museum Creation Evidence Museum Lacks Evidence! By Greg Neyman © Answers In Creation www.answersincreation.org/cem.htm The Creation Evidence Museum in Glen Rose, Texas, claims to have evidences of a young earth on display. Careful examination of the main articles they claim show a young earth reveal that they are deceptions, and in many cases, not even clever ones. (To view their page of Museum Displays, visit CEM Online (creationevidence.org), and click on Museum Displays on the left column.) The rebuttals for this museum are a compilation of articles from various websites. It is important to note that Carl Baugh, the person behind the museum, is at odds with other creation scientists. To view Answers In Genesis' original article on Carl Baugh, visit http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/paluxy/whatbau.html . The London Artifact An iron and wooden hammer supposedly encased in limestone. CEM claims that this hammer could not be millions of years old (dated to the same age as the limestone) so the hammer/rock must be only thousands of years old. Glen Kuban, who has studied the claims of young earth artifacts from Texas for the last fifteen years, provides the real story behind this hammer (http://paleo.cc/paluxy/hammer.htm ). The Burdick Print This footprint from what they claim is Cretaceous limestone, is said to show that man and dinosaurs walked together only a few thousand years ago. Glen Kuban provides a thorough rebuttal to this claim ( http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/paluxy/wilker5.html ). He shows the track contains anatomic errors, and demonstrates that abruptly truncated subsurface algal structures indicate this print was carved into the rock. For more, check out http://wiki.cotch.net/index.php/The_Burdick_Track . The Fossilized Human Finger THis supposed finger from a young girl, said to show bone structure in a CT scan, is nothing more than an interestingly shaped rock. Again, Glen Kuban provides a rebuttal to this claim ( http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/paluxy/nbc.html ). Many of us over the years have found interesting rocks. It is clear what CEM wants to believe about the rock, but the evidence is underwhelming. WWW.ANSWERSINCREATION.ORG The Meister Print This supposed human sandal print, with the stitching showing in the impression, supposedly comes from Cambrian rock in the state of Utah. Glen Kuban addresses the claims by CEM about this artifact, showing that it is clearly not what they claim (http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/paluxy/meister.html ). For more, check out http://wiki.cotch.net/index.php/The_Meister_Print , and http://wiki.cotch.net/index.php/Sandal_footprints_have_been_found_associated_with_trilobites . The Hand Print In Stone This supposed handprint in stone has been shown to be a trace fossil and not a human handprint. See http://www.asa3.org/ASA/PSCF/1988/PSCF9-88Hastings.html for this claim (search for "handprint"). Iron Pot in Coal This pot, it is claimed, came out of a piece of coal that was struck with a sledgehammer. The coal was supposedly traced back to a mine in Oklahoma, where the coal is said to be 295 million years old. You can buy a replica of this item from CEM. No rebuttals to this item appear on the internet. This does not mean it is not capable of being rebutted. For instance, since the coal is not available, how can we provide any kind of rebuttal. The pot itself would not give us the evidence we need. Since we only have the pot, and the claims of young earth creationists, we cannot verify the veracity of their claim. Given the false claims mentioned above, especially in cases such as the Burdick Print, which was obviously carved, I have no choice but to assume this claim is also fabricated. Conclusion Creation Evidence Museum is a collection of fabricated, faked items. Items which cannot be verified, such as the iron pot, leave us with no choice but to assume these also are faked. When considering any evidence from young earth creationist Carl Baugh, one should immediately suspect deception and deceit. WWW.ANSWERSINCREATION.ORG .

  • Apologetic Resources
APOLOGETIC RESOURCES A Young Earth ministry perspective, namely contrasting Scripture to true science now and during the ages. By Dr. Jim Pagels [email protected] 9/2016 Editor Dr. John Fricke, Emeritus Professor of Biology, Concordia University, Ann Arbor, Michigan. Copyright This book is offered as an educational resource on a no cost basis. Contents are not to be reproduced for the purpose of sale. Note that all Scriptural passages are taken from the English Standard Version. 1 I HAVE NO GREATER JOY THAN TO HEAR THAT MY CHILDREN WALK IN THE TRUTH III JOHN 1:4 Forward - Although there is much young Earth information available from commercial sources and on the internet, it was the impression of this writer that no resource that deals with basic topical issues correlating the young Earth philosophy and science exists for professional church workers. To this end, Apologetic Resources is being offered. Intended Audience – The intended audience of this reference material is primarily use by professional church workers, i.e., teachers, pastors, youth workers, etc., namely those who choose to uphold the literal interpretation of Genesis and the inerrancy of Holy Scripture. The focus in this regard is Young Earth Creationism and the catastrophic nature of the global Genesis Flood keeping in mind that Genesis 1-11 is foundational to most of the significant doctrines of Holy Scripture. Of course, laymen may well also find this reference a valuable resource. There is obviously a realistic interplay between Scripture, apologetics and true science. The goal of this document is to provide clarity to this interaction.

DR. BAUGH, CREATION IN SYMPHONY Tape 1, Sessions 1 & 2 Creation in Symphony: THE EVIDENCE Session 1 Evolution Won’t Work (voice - intro) 150 years ago the theory of evolution found reception in the mind of western man. It was not a new idea. It had been introduced in religious political documents in ancient Babylon, and later in secular contemplations of developing Greece. Erasmus Darwin came up with the idea of natural selection as a mechanism for evolution. His grandson, Charles, introduced the concept to the secular academic community, which was eager to embrace a non-theistic doctrine. This doctrine removed the need for a Creator in the natural world, and the need for accountability in the spiritual world. The text of this video series shows that evolution does not work in theory, or in laboratory research. The evidence is heavily in favor of special creation. In this series of lectures a complete Creation model has been developed, with extensive technical references. Prepare to have your mind dramatically expanded, and your faith academically justified, as our speaker, Dr. Carl Baugh, takes you on a fascinating journey from the microscopic to the galactic. Discover creation in symphony. (Baugh) Hello, I’m Carl Baugh, director of Creation Evidences Museum in Glen Rose, and director of international expeditions looking for living dinosaurs. Welcome to the discussion today. We’re going to discuss very intimate questions, which have to do with your past, your present and your future, and that of all of mankind. We’re going to talk about dinosaurs. Tyrannosaurus Rex. Pachycephalosaurus.

  • Burdick, Clifford Leslie (1894–1992)
Burdick, Clifford Leslie (1894–1992) JAMES L. HAYWARD James L. Hayward, Ph.D. (Washington State University), is a professor emeritus of biology at Andrews University where he taught for 30 years. He is widely published in literature dealing with ornithology, behavioral ecology, and paleontology, and has contributed numerous articles to Adventist publications. His book, The Creation-Evolution Controversy: An Annotated Bibliography (Scarecrow Press, 1998), won a Choice award from the American Library Association. He also edited Creation Reconsidered (Association of Adventist Forums, 2000). Clifford Leslie Burdick, a Seventh-day Adventist consulting geologist, was an outspoken defender of young earth creationism and involved in the search for Noah’s Ark. Many of his claims were sensationalist and later discredited. Early Life and Education Born in 1894, Burdick was a graduate of the Seventh Day Baptist Milton College of Wisconsin. After accepting the Seventh-day Adventist message, Burdick enrolled at Emmanuel Missionary College (EMC, now Andrews University) in hopes of becoming a missionary. There he met the prominent creationist George McCready Price who inspired Burdick’s Clifford Leslie Burdick. interest in “Flood geology.”1 From Youth's Instructor, July 11, 1967 In 1922 Burdick submitted a thesis to EMC entitled “The Sabbath: Its Development in America,” which he later claimed earned him a Master of Arts degree in theology. Records show, however, that he never received a degree at EMC. He also claimed to have received a master’s degree in geology from the University of Wisconsin. Although he did complete several courses in geology there, he failed his oral exams and thus was denied a degree.2 During the 1950s Burdick took courses in geology and paleontology at the University of Arizona with plans to earn a PhD.

Aqd.Inw uqo Au ~ Jitbliral <!Case for an ~U.l -'lEartb ~nterpretatton of <@enests A Personal Introduction: I am the son of a preacher and have been raised in the church all of my life. My mother and father attended the Free Will Baptist Bible College in Nashville, Tennessee, and my father was an ordained minister in the Free Will Baptist denomination. If you think Southern Baptists are conservative, Free Will Baptists make them look like a bunch of tree-huggin,' hybrid drivin,' whole-foods eatin,' tie-dye wearin' liberals. Needless to say, I was raised in a very, very conservative biblical tradition. My father was a young-earth creationist and I held that position for almost 35 years. When I first became interested in Christian apologetics I read a couple of my father's books by Henry Morris, considered by many to be the father of the modern day young earth creationist movement. Initially, I read and studied Christian apologetics because I wanted to affirm my position. I favored books and articles that gave evidence in support of my beliefs and my point of view, and that refuted opposing worldviews. I really wasn't too interested in reading books or articles espousing differing positions. They were wrong and I knew they were wrong so I didn't feel the need to waste my time reading their liberal, ill-informed points of view. Then I was sucker punched. I was preparing a Christian apologetics presentation for Sunday school and was advised that Dr. Hugh Ross, of the Christian apologetics ministry Reasons To Believe, was going to be speaking at the University of Texas.

  • Faith Displayed As Science: the Role of the "Creation Museum"
FAITH DISPLAYED AS SCIENCE: THE ROLE OF THE “CREATION MUSEUM” IN THE MODERN AMERICAN CREATIONIST MOVEMENT A thesis presented by Julie Anne Duncan to The Department of the History of Science in partial fulfillment of the requirements for an honors degree in History and Science Harvard University Cambridge, Massachusetts March, 2009 ABSTRACT NAME: Julie Anne Duncan TITLE: Faith Displayed as Science: The Role of the “Creation Museum” in the Modern American Creationist Movement ABSTRACT: Since the 1960s, the U.S. has seen a remarkable resurgence of the belief in the literal truth of the Bible, especially in a “young” (less than 10,000 years old) Earth. Somewhat paradoxically, this new biblical literalism has been accompanied by an increased emphasis on scientific legitimacy among creationists. The most recent tool in young-Earth creationists’ quest for scientific legitimacy is the “creation museum.” This thesis analyzes and compares the purposes and methods of four creation museums; discusses their repercussions for science as a discipline; and explains their significance for the larger creationist movement. KEYWORDS: creationism, young Earth, evolution, museums, Creation Evidence Museum, Dinosaur Adventure Land, Institute for Creation Research, Answers in Genesis ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS Writing this thesis would not have been the wonderful and rewarding experience it was without the generous support of the following people. It is difficult to overstate my gratitude to my thesis adviser, Professor Janet Browne. It was she who first suggested, back when I was just a sophomore in her Darwinian Revolution seminar, that my longtime interest in creationism might very well make for an interesting thesis. She helped me apply for the research grant that allowed me to visit four creation museums last summer and then graciously agreed to advise my thesis.
