STATE WATER RESOURCES CONTROL BOARD RESOLUTION NO. 2002 - 0017

GROUNDWATER AMBIENT MONITORING AND ASSESSMENT PROGRAM (GAMA): AUTHORIZE EXECUTION AND AMENDMENT OF STANDARD AGREEMENT WITH THE UNITED STATES GEOLOGICAL SURVEY (USGS), LAWRENCE LIVERMORE NATIONAL LABORATORIES (LLNL) OR ANOTHER PUBLIC AGENCY FOR CONTINUED AMBIENT GROUNDWATER MONITORING

WHEREAS:

1. The mission of the State Water Resources Control Board is to preserve and enhance the quality of California’s water resources, and ensure their proper allocation and effi- cient use for the benefit of present and future generations;

2. Ambient water quality monitoring provides valuable information to assess the poten- tial impacts of pollutants on the beneficial uses of water; and

3. Expenditure authority for this agreement is included in the budget.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT:

The State Water Resources Control Board authorizes the Executive Director or designee to enter into an agreement and any amendments thereto, not to exceed $4,920,000, with the United States Geological Survey, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories, or another public agency to conduct ambient groundwater monitoring.

The undersigned, Clerk to the Board, does hereby certify that the foregoing is a full, true, and correct copy of a resolution duly and regularly adopted at a meeting of the State Wa- ter Resources Control Board held on January 23, 2002.
