SENIOR REGISTRATION INFORMATION COMPLETED REGISTRATION CARDS ARE DUE THE WEEK OF APRIL 4TH

MY REGISTRATION CARD IS DUE ON:

MANDATORY GLC REGISTRATION APPOINTMENTS

GLC REGISTRATION APPOINTMENTS will be assigned by lottery on Tuesday, May 10th for the Class of 2017. Make sure your student knows if there are times or dates that you absolutely cannot attend during the 4-week registration period this summer and on May 10 th your student should let the registration personnel know these dates prior to being assigned a date. We will do our best to avoid scheduling your appointment during times you are not available. (Rescheduling appointments after May 10th is very difficult and may not be possible!)

This year’s Registration Appointments will be held from Monday, July 11 through Friday, August 5, 2016.

IMPORTANT!!! GET YOUR SIBLINGS APPOINTMENTS ON THE SAME DAY For your convenience, at their lottery, older siblings who are currently attending DBHS may set an appointment for their younger DBHS brothers/sisters for the same day and approximate same time so that parents only have to come one day for registration.

STEPS TO FOLLOW: 1. At older sibling’s GLC Registration Appointment Lottery, May 10th, older sibling sets his or her appointment with his/her own GLC. 2. Older sibling then sets an appointment for his younger DBHS sibling with the younger sibling’s GLC so that both student’s appointments are on the same day and the appointment times are close together.

If this is done, the younger DBHS sibling WILL NOT participate in the lottery for their own grade level. Please inform your younger student if their older brother or sister has a date for them already.

Colleges expect “C” grades or better in all college-prep classes. You must make up any grade that is lower than a “C” in those classes. This can be done in summer school. Contact your GLC about what you may need to make-up. (For purposes of college admissions the (+ and -) system is not recognized. Example: A grade of C- still counts towards admission’s requirements for four-year schools.

PRIVATE AND OUT OF STATE COLLEGES Many private and out of state school catalogues are available in the Career Center and all schools will have their own information website. Websites will have information on what each school’s specific admissions’ requirements are. You can inquire directly to the school for information.

CREDITS EARNED At the end of the junior year you should have earned a minimum of 160 credits and have completed all courses to date to be considered on target towards the graduation requirement of 220 credits. During the GLC Registration meeting this summer, your GLC will once again review your graduation and admissions’ status with you and your parents.

SUMMER SCHOOL Go online at www.dbhs.org to find all information about summer school.  Students making up a D or an F in English or another graduation requirement should have registered for the class on www.dbhs.org summer school website or with their GLC. If you have not, see your GLC immediately. If you earn a D or an F in the 2nd semester of a graduation and/or university admissions’ requirement this school year, it is your responsibility to sign up for summer school on the first day – Monday, June 6th at 7:30 am in the theater.

 Students signing up for tuition courses (e.g. Biology, Physics, Algebra II) need to apply online at www.dedicated2learning.com or dbhs.org summer school website D2L between March 14th and March 25th. There is no advantage to applying early, but you must apply within this time period. A list of students who have received seats in these courses will be posted online.

 Summer school rosters will be posted on our school website under the Summer School Link:

o All rosters will be posted by March 28, 2016 so please verify your summer-school enrollment. When completing your Senior Registration card, please take into account what summer school course you are taking. For example: If you are taking Civics/Economics this summer and you are enrolled in the course, you should not place Civics/Economics on your Senior registration card. Select another course. PREREQUISITES If you are not earning at least a “C” in a class that is a prerequisite for the next level, you cannot sign up for that next level class. For example, if you are getting a “D” in Trigonometry/Math Analysis, you cannot sign up for Calculus. You must sign up for Trigonometry/Math Analysis again or Trigonometry Summative Math. Some courses require a grade of “B” or better in the second semester of the prerequisite. In addition, some classes may require you to attend informational meetings and to complete an application process. Auditions, applications, tryouts or testing may also be required for some classes. It is the student’s responsibility to know and satisfy these requirements. Listen to Bulletin announcements etc. for information about auditions, tryouts for certain programs on campus.
