1 [5138] 1 1 Whereas, Sumter got its final run in the bottom of the sixth when 2 second baseman Tripp Ward stole home to put the Gamecocks up 3 5-0. Ward also sealed the victory over the Cavaliers in the top of 4 the seventh after snagging a sinking line drive by Dorman’s 5 Thomas Groome to get the final out of the game; and 6 7 Whereas, the South Carolina General Assembly takes great pride 8 in recognizing the young men of the Sumter High School baseball 9 team on an outstanding season and in honoring them as 10 tremendous model-student athletes who demonstrate the rewards 11 of perseverance and teamwork. Now, therefore, 12 13 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate 14 concurring: 15 16 That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this 17 resolution, congratulate the Sumter High School baseball team of 18 Sumter County on its most impressive season winning the Class 19 AAAA State baseball championship title and honor its players and 20 their coach, Brooks Shumake, on a sensational season. 21 22 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to 23 the players, coaches, and school officials of the Sumter High 24 School baseball team. 25 ----XX---- 26
