a) Please state briefly (and in not more than 100 words) your reasons for applying for postgraduate study in English literature at St Andrews.

b) Please state clearly (and in not more than 200 words) what in your educational background makes you a particularly suitable candidate for graduate study in your chosen programme.

We require all applicants whose first language is not English to have an academic IELTS score of 8 or above, or its equivalent. Certificates should be appended. Prior to application, applicants should already have been in communication with a prospective supervisor within the School. Please confirm that you have done this, listing your preferred primary supervisor(s) below.

g) Applicants for the PhD or the MPhil should append an outline of the proposed research topic to their application. Since they are used to help rank potential scholarship applicants, research proposals should be as detailed as possible. Please list your provisional title below.
