GENERAL SCHOOL EXPECTATIONS: You are expected to comply with ALL rules as set forth in the Carterville Intermediate School Parent/Student Handbook.

7 th GRADE SCIENCE CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS: You are demonstrating appropriate behavior/conduct when you do the following:  Show respect for yourself and others  Show respect for property (your own, the school’s, and others’)  Be considerate of the feelings of others at all times  Keep your hands, feet, and mouth to yourself  Arrive to class on time  Come to class prepared (bring textbook, pencil/pen, and & other supplies EACH day)  Complete and submit assignments on time

CLASSROOM CONSEQUENCES: Students who choose to demonstrate inappropriate behavior/conduct will be subject to one or more of the following consequences: *Verbal warning by the teacher *Conference with the teacher *Parent Conference *Additional assignments *Detention *Referral to principal *Alternative Education Setting *Loss of privileges

Severe Clause: Any fighting, destruction of property or gross insubordination will result in an immediate referral to the principal.

Please note that a conduct grade will be assigned each quarter. Your compliance with the expectations outlined above will be considered to determine this grade. OTHER CLASS INFORMATION:  The STUDENT is responsible for all class work AND homework when absent.  The homework policy from the CIS handbook is strictly enforced.  Students keep a science folder of graded work IN CLASS. These folders are sent home periodically for parent viewing. This folder is supplied by the school. It can be sent home at any time by parent request.  The class operates on a point system. Approximate point ranges are: *Daily tasks 5-75 points *Projects 150-200 points *Tests 200 points *Labs 40-75 points  Students can earn extra credit by doing the question of the week, a science investigation activity, and keeping class notes. Other opportunities also arise throughout the year. A student is allowed a maximum of 100 EXTRA CREDIT POINTS per quarter.  Students must complete all science tasks in pencil or blue or black ink pen only. Science work in red or any other color pen will NOT be graded.  7th grade is an ISAT Science tested year. Students will be taking the science test in late February or early March along with reading and math. The ISAT Science test consists of 2 sessions of 40 multiple choice questions each covering material from 5th-7th grades.
