Dear Parents, Guardians and Students

RE: Year 11 into 12 Learning Pathways Evening – Tuesday 29th November 2016

We are pleased to invite you to our annual Sixth Form Open Evening on Tuesday, 29th November 2016. The evening will commence in the West Wing Hall and the timings of the evening are outlined below.

From 6:00 - 6:35pm there will be a welcome and address from Mrs Parry, Headteacher, who will then outline the options process and entry requirements and Mrs Lloyd, Leader of Learning 16-19, will speak about the Honours programme. Our Head Boy and Head Girl will also speak about studying and life in the Sixth Form.

Between 6.40 and 8.00pm you will have the opportunity to meet subject leaders and teachers to ask questions, obtain advice and discuss subject requirements and specifications. We are in discussion with our partnership schools regarding Sixth Form entry and subject requirements and will therefore provide you with a detailed overview on the evening.

This important evening will help students make vital decisions about their Advanced Level studies and the suitability of their subject choices to their higher education aspirations.

Why consider Llanishen High School Sixth Form?

We look forward to meeting you and giving you a greater insight into our Sixth Form provision. This is an exciting time for students to join our Sixth Form as the school celebrates three years of improved outcomes and the best Key Stage 4 results achieved to date. This translates into raised aspirations for Sixth Form outcomes and all Key Stage 5 performance indicators. Key features of our Sixth Form experience include:  Aspirational target setting and close tracking of progress against targets  Regular parental involvement in progress and early intervention if we have concerns of any description  A stepping stone into a more independent style of study whilst retaining the safety net of being member of a small form group  All students have a dedicated form tutor and support for the Advanced Welsh Baccalaureate  The opportunity to play a role as a senior member of our whole school community  Access to our 'Honours Group' to challenge and support more able and talented students  Specific support for UCAS applications and specific support for those aspiring to Oxford, Cambridge and Russell Group and Sutton Trust Universities We look forward to seeing you on the evening,

Yours sincerely S Parry E Lloyd Mrs S Parry Mrs E Lloyd Head Teacher Leader of Learning 16-19
