Personal Protective Equipment

Injuries from lifting, headaches, odor and fumes. Electric shock. Cuts, back injuries, strains Surplus material, cuts, strains.

Safe Work Procedure

1 Clean work area, move furniture Use 2 wheel dollies, flat dollies. Lifting properly using legs, not back. 2 Prepare work area by removing existing floor Removal of materials in small enough amount i.e. tile, sheet goods, carpet or weights not to inflict or cause injury. Use of proper tools, knives, scrapers, etc. Use of proper personal safety wear i.e. dust masks, gloves, knee pads. 3 Leveling of sub floor Wear gloves, knee pads 4 Tile installation Boxes of tiles 65 lbs. Proper lifting procedures. Use of gloves, knee pads, face masks, fans. Check all tools and electrical tools. WHMIS data and fire extinguisher available. 5 Installation of sheet goods Roll of sheet goods weight 300-400 lbs. Proper lifting procedures. Use of dollies. Use gloves, knee pads, fans and ensure proper ventilation. Check electrical tools. WHMIS data available. 6 Carpet Proper lifting procedures. Use dollies, gloves, knee pads and fans. Check all tools WHMIS data.

Page 1 7 Installation of base (cove). Container of cove base approximately 40 lbs. Proper lifting and carrying procedures. WHMIS data available. 8 Clean-up of job site Turn tank off. Disassemble torch and hose from propane tank. Plug tank. Tank to be left in secure area for pick-up.
