RE: TEMPORARY CHANGE TO UCSF HOSPITAL VISITOR POLICY

Effective Monday, Nov. 9, UCSF Medical Center and UCSF Children's Hospital will institute a temporary change to its visitor policy, due to increased H1N1 influenza in the general population. Visitors to the medical center under the age of 16 will not be allowed on patient care floors until further notice and will be restricted to the cafes and main lobbies at the Parnassus and Mount Zion campuses.

All visitors will be asked to complete a flu symptom self-assessment on the first floor, and instructed not to enter patient floors if they have flu-like symptoms. Individual services and units will continue to implement more in-depth visitor screening procedures based on program needs and conditions.

Under special circumstances, visitors under the age of 16 and visitors with flu-like symptoms will be allowed on patient floors. Visitors with symptoms will need to wear a medical mask. The N-95 respirator is not required.

We will keep you updated if there are any changes to this policy.
