In 2017, Universal Studios Japan is set to outdo its “over-the-top” 15th anniversary with the new theme of “going beyond ‘over-the-top’!” From March 17 (Fri), USJ will bring you a variety of attractions and pieces of entertainment that go one step beyond. We’d like to share some detailed information about the first installment of this new series of attractions: Dragon Quest: The Real.
After its announcement in December of last year, social networking services like Twitter exploded with posts in anticipation, like “What, a tie-in between Universal Studios Japan and Dragon Quest!? I’ve got to go!”, “This is what I’ve been waiting for!”, and “Now I can finally be a hero!”, and there were many posts from people waiting for follow-up information with bated breath as well, such as “I want to know more!” and “I’ve got to get my vacation plans ready when the details come out!”. Please look forward to this emotional experience where you can become a hero and engage in real combat, all in a world of adventure that, so far, you’ve only seen in the games.
◆ The first walk-through real battle attraction in Dragon Quest history Three reasons why you can become a real hero and engage in real battles in
this well-loved world of adventure Enjoy a moving experience exclusive to Universal Studios Japan, where you can dive in to a real Dragon Quest world and truly become a hero yourself. 1. You can choose your vocation, grab a weapon and go on an adventure! Guests will choose from Dragon Quest vocations, such as warrior or mage, giving the role their own unique spin with weapon in hand, and cooperate with a party of friends to advance. Within the attraction, the weapons will change to match the features of each person’s vocation, and by casting spells, you can attack monsters using your own abilities. 2. You can explore actual Dungeons, painstakingly reproduced with high quality! On arriving at the castle entrance, guests will receive a certain request from the King, and embark on a world of adventure. Together with their allies, guests will work their way through dungeons , with detailed features like frozen passages, brandishing their weapons at the series of monsters that appear. 3. You can defeat monsters to gain experience points and “level up”! When guests defeat monsters, they will gain experience points and “level up”. By increasing their stats (abilities) and becoming stronger, guests can truly experience the “growth” factor that could be described as Dragon Quest’s real charm, heightening the sense of accomplishment.
