Danfoss and Thermon join forces to lift sales of heat tracing solutions
Danfoss Electrical Heating Systems, part of Danish energy industry leader Danfoss, has signed a new supply agreement with US-based Thermon Group Holdings, Inc., currently no. 2 globally in the market for heat tracing solutions. The agreement will enable Thermon to expand into a new market segment in the area of buildings and private homes and gain access to the extensive sales expertise in Danfoss, whereas Danfoss will offer some of the world’s best solutions within heat tracing to their customers sold under the DEVI brand.
Effective from September 1st 2011 Thermon will begin supplying Danfoss with self-limiting cables, thereby adding to Danfoss' existing portfolio of products within selected markets. Initially, Danfoss will launch the self-limiting cables in six markets, namely Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Poland and Russia. Further, the two companies will also launch a new programme focusing on common product development.
‘We see a growing market for using heat tracing solutions outdoor to keep the vulnerable areas of office buildings, production facilities, large apartment buildings and private homes free of snow and ice in the wintertime. Typically solutions are installed to keep the lower parts of the roofs and the gutters and downpipes defrosted and fully functional, which can prevent severe damage to buildings and constructions as well as be preventive towards injuries during icy winters. Thermon’s heat tracing solutions are supreme in the market in terms of quality and reliability. Adding these products to our portfolio will provide us with a strong offer to the market and we are confident that this new agreement will lift our sales of heat tracing solutions significantly’, says Henrik Londorf, Director - Markets, Portfolio & Strategy in Danfoss Electrical Heating Systems.
For Thermon, the agreement provides an opportunity to expand into the commercial market segment: ‘Traditionally our main focus has been in the industrial heat tracing market sector. Most of our customers are in the oil and gas, power and chemical processing industries, which accounted for the majority of our revenue in 2010. This new agreement with Danfoss opens up an adjacent market with significant upside potential. Partnering with one of the market leaders in Europe will create immediate opportunity during the upcoming heating season. Thermon brings long and well documented experience of producing high-quality heating cables and together with Danfoss, I am confident that we will be able to bring a series of premium products to the market’, says Rob Leussink, General Manager of Thermon in Europe.
The product line which will be promoted under the brand DEVI – self-limiting cable technology by Thermon, will be available in the six markets beginning September 1st 2011.
