Using the list below, write the opposite meaning of the words.

 What are the differences between the two sides of the paper?

 How do these qualities play out in our lives?

 Which side of the paper are you going to choose to live?

2. What does proactive mean? Give an example of a proactive choice you’ve made?

3. What does reactive mean? When and where do you tend to be the most reactive?

4. Listen to your language. Is it proactive or reactive? List some examples. Refer to pg. 51.

“Becoming a Change Agent” (pages 59-60) 5. Identify and write down one habit that you “inherited” from your parents that you would like to change or improve.

6. Create a 1 week plan by identifying things you can do each day to change the habit. List each day of the week (Monday thru Sunday) and write one thing you can do each day to change or improve this habit.

7. Write down a goal you want to achieve.

8. Identify an obstacle preventing you from accomplishing this goal.

9. Write down at least one solution you will implement this week to overcome your obstacle?

10. Write down EVERYTHING (there better be at least 25 things listed) that make you great – don’t be shy!!! Just write what you believe makes you great.

11. Identify and write down something that you have always wanted to do but didn’t because you were afraid to…GET OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE!

Now – DO IT. Write down the date and what the outcome of the situation was. How do you feel about yourself?

Read this scenarios and write a proactive response to each situation. a. You’ve been working on the school yearbook and have been extremely committed and dependable. Three months ago, a new student joined the staff. Recently, he was given the title of Yearbook Editor, the job you’d been hoping for. b. Your boss is talking to another employee when you come in to punch your time card. You have reason to believe they are talking about you. This makes you feel uncomfortable and mad. c. A close friend gets to go on a senior trip, all expenses paid. You are jealous they do not have to pay a dime. You do not think they deserve to have their parents pay for everything. You consider not going because you have to pay for part of your trip and do not think it is fair. d. At work, you developed a new way to organize the filing system that makes it easier for the office staff to find documents. Your supervisor takes all the credit. e. You are a nurse. The patient you are working with is ungrateful, rude, is always finding fault in everything you do, and makes your life miserable.

In all of these situations and in your life in general, what is the one thing that you can control?
