BLACKHAWK TU BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING 3/7/2016 TU chapter members present: Terry Vaughn , Don Studt, Gordon Long, Ron Machajewski, Dave Hinde, Bill Lazor, Dave Patrick, Phil Dawkins, Tom Puralewski, and Dick Alfors

Please note: This meeting was held at the Janesville Public Library, as announced by Terry at the February Regular Meeting. The venue for the April Board Meeting is uncertain at this time, but the May and June Board Meetings will also be at the library. Please access our website, Blackhawk.TU.org (without a "www" prefix) for any updates.

Regular March Meeting

The March meeting will be held at the HHFFRRGH INN southeast of Janesville on March 21st, starting at 7 PM. We will be viewing a DVD titled "Nymphing Foundations - How to catch more trout sub-surface".

Old/New Business

Terry reported that he and Dave H attended a meeting on February 22nd in Williams Bay, in regard to Southwick Creek, a small (less than a mile long) spring-fed stream into Geneva Lake. Also in attendance were Luke Roffler (DNR Fisheries Biologist), Darrel Viss (another Blackhawk Chapter member), local Williams Bay Village Board members, and two SEWTU chapter members. Dave offered to compile a more detailed report to the chapter for their information and consideration.

A request from the Nohr Chapter for a $1,000 donation for their streamwork on Pompei Pillar this summer was approved unanimously.

Tom, our newly-designated "Youth Coordinator", handed out copies of TU's "Headwaters Youth Education Initiative".

Work Days - Five (or more)!

Monday, May 9th there will be a work day with the Shabazz Project Green Team on Weister Creek.

Five days later, Saturday May 14th at 9 AM, we'll be working with the Coulee Chapter at Spring Coulee, building 20 cribs.

A workday on Little Willow Creek in Richland County (with the SEWTU chapter) is tentatively set for June 11th. SEWTU also has a workday on Bluff Creek (Walworth County) scheduled for September 17th, to which we've been invited. Some chapter members have wondered if we would prefer to have our own workday on Bluff Creek at some earlier date, since grouse season will already be open by then. If you have an opinion about this, please let some Board member know!

With a date not yet set there's also Otter Creek, under Paul Krahn's leadership

Spring Banquet

The date is now set, Monday, April 25th, and auctionable donations by chapter members are needed!

Remember, we can't continue to be the stream conservation supporters that we're known for without everyone's support.
