[4257-2] 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 10 11 TO REQUEST THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF 12 TRANSPORTATION NAME THE BRIDGE THAT CROSSES 13 INTERSTATE HIGHWAY 95 ALONG CATFISH CHURCH 14 ROAD IN DILLON COUNTY “LINDA MANNING HAYES 15 BRIDGE” AND ERECT APPROPRIATE MARKERS OR SIGNS 16 AT THIS BRIDGE THAT CONTAIN THIS DESIGNATION. 17 18 Whereas, Dr. Linda Manning Hayes earned her Ph.D. in 19 Philosophy of Education and Bachelor of Science degree from the 20 University of South Carolina. She earned her Master of Science 21 degree in Library Supervision from the University of Tennessee; 22 and 23 24 Whereas, Dr. Hayes’ professional career has been wide and varied 25 and includes employment as the Law Librarian at Emory 26 University School of Law, Director of Incentive Consortium 27 DillonMarion Counties, Adjunct Professor at the University of 28 South Carolina, and Principal of Maple Junior High School in 29 Dillon, South Carolina; and 30 31 Whereas, she has served on numerous boards, commissions, and 32 economic development and civic organizations that include 33 Secretary for the Dillon County Public Private Economic 34 Development Board, founding member and Secretary of the 35 National Interstate Highway 73 Association, Secretary of the 36 Dillon County Forestry Association, chairperson of the Dillon 37 County Department of Social Services, President of the Latta 38 Rotary, and member of Delta Zeta Sorority; and 39 40 Whereas, her moto, “Born on the banks of Catfish Canal, Baptized 41 at Catfish Creek Baptist Church, and Lives where Catfish Creek
[4257] 3 1 and Catfish Canal Join” personifies her love for Dillon County and 2 its citizens; and 3 4 Whereas, it would be fitting and proper to name a bridge in Dillon 5 County in honor of this great daughter of the Palmetto State. Now, 6 therefore, 7 8 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate 9 concurring: 10 11 That the members of the General Assembly request that the 12 Department of Transportation name the bridge that crosses 13 Interstate Highway 95 along Catfish Church Road in Dillon 14 County “Linda Manning Hayes Bridge” and erect appropriate 15 markers or signs at this bridge that contain this designation. 16 17 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to 18 the Department of Transportation. 19 XX 20
