Day 1 Arrive Delhi
Arrive Delhi international airport, after meet and greet by local tour manager, transfer to the hotel. Remainder of the day at leisure
Day 2 In Delhi After briefing over breakfast by tour leader, we explore mutiny sites of Delhi, a visit to Flag Staff tower, Drive pass Ludlow castle (see outside only), then stop at Mutiny Monument (also known as Ajit Garh) a Mutiny Memorial built to commemorate the British and the Indians who fought on their sides in 1857. From here we will move to Nicholson’s grave and Kashmiri Gate area - Built in 1835. Before halting for lunch, we will visit St. James Church. After lunch, we plan to explore giant Red Fort, which stands along the eastern edge of the walled city, on the west bank of the Yamuna River. If time allows, we may give a look at Coronation Park, where the statues of British Royalties and nobilities are kept.
Delhi– Meerut– Delhi Drive (Day trip) After breakfast, in north Delhi, we will Visit Battlefield of Badli – ki – Serai, here on 8th Jun 1857 battle was fought between sepoys and Gordon Highlanders. From, here we will head towards Meerut and explore St John’s Church, cemeteries, Parade ground in cantonment area where some of the British army officer’s bungalows still exist and drive by residence of Lt. Col Carmichael Smyth, perhaps responsible for the mutiny of 10th May 1857 by coerce his troopers into accepting controversial cartridges. In the evening, we return to our hotel in Delhi.
Day 4 Delhi– Jhansi Train Jhansi– Orcha Drive Early in the morning, we Board an express train to Jhansi. We arrive Jhansi railway station by mid morning, immediately board our vehicle visit Jhansi Fort, Built by Raja Bir Singh in 17th Century, it also houses a museum of sculpture collection and Jokan Bagh, where on 8th June 1857 massacre took place. In the late afternoon, we drive a short distance to Orcha, a medieval township with beautiful temple complex and Jehangir Mahal Palace, a fine example of architecture from Bundela dynasty (16th to 18th centuries), arrive and check-in at our hotel.
Day 5 Jhansi– Gwalior Drive After breakfast, walking tour of this Orcha then drive to Gwalior via Jhansi, en-route visit Datia Fort and Kote-Ke – Sarai. Arrive Gwalior – the princely State, and check in at hotel. After wash and Change visit magnificent Gwalior Fort, the steep road up to the Fort is flanked by statues of Jain tirthankaras, carved into the rock face. In the surrounding of the fort, there are some other monuments worth to visit such as Teli ka Mandir a 9th century edifice, Sas Bahu ka Mandir, built in 11th century and Gurudwara Data Bandhi Chhod built in the memory of Guru Hargobind Sahib, Jai Vilas Palace and Museum where Royal family still reside and a portion has been converted into a Palatial Hotel, Tansen's tomb, a great classical musician of emperor Akbar. During our day long explorations, we will also pay visit to British cemetery. Optional: Evening Sound & Light Show at Gwalior Fort.
Day 6 Gwalior– Agra Drive After breakfast, we drive to Agra, arrive by late morning, after check-in at hotel and wash and change, we explore the Agra fort and the grave of Sir John Russell Golvin. Also visit the Akbar’s Tomb at Sikandra.
Day 7 Day In Agra Agra– Lucknow Night Train At sunrise, we will visit great love monument the Taj Mahal, return to hotel for breakfast, and then drive off to visit Akbar’s Abandoned city, the Fatehpur Sikri, en-route stop at the at the location of Sasia. Return to Agra, afternoon free for personal sightseeing, later in the evening we board Lucknow bound night train.
Day 8 Arrive Lucknow In the morning arrive Lucknow and transfer to hotel. After wash and change, we will explore the La Martiniere College, Built and designed by French soldier turned architect- Claude Mrtin, The Kaisarbagh area, started in 1848 and was completed in 1850 by the last nawab of Avadh, Wajid Ali Shah, Secunderbagh Garden, it derives its name from one of the begums of Nawab Wajid Ali Shah, The Residency compound one time, the official residence of the British Resident, witness to one of the bitterest battles during the war of independence in 1857, Bara Imambara, built calamitous famine of 1784 to provide employment and relief to subjects Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula.
Day 9 Lucknow– Kanpur Drive 90 Km. Kanpur– Delhi Night Train In the morning check-out from hotel, visit General Havelok’s Tomb, thereafter drive onto Kanpur, after checking-in formalities and wash n change, we explore Wheeler's Entrenchment, All Soul’s Memorial Church, built in 1857 and the graves of over 70 officers executed on 1 July 1857, Satichaura Ghat (also known as massacre ghat), Memorial Garden with a statue by Marochetti and a screen designed by Sir Henry Yule, Bibigarh Well bodies of European women and children had been thrown. After dinner, late in the night, we board a sleeper night train to Delhi.
Day 10 Arrive Delhi Early in the morning arrive Delhi, transfer to hotel, remainder of the day free for personal explorations.
Day 11 Delhi – Departure After breakfast, transfer to international airport in time to board homeward flight.
