Sports Council For Glasgow Annual Awards 2015 AWARDS NOMINATION FORM Sports Council For Glasgow Is delighted to work again with sportscotland in the delivery of both our own Annual Awards for 2015, and the sportscotland Local Coach, Technical Official and Volunteer (COV) Awards.
Having taken members feedback from our 2014 Awards, we have simplified the Nomination Process for 2015 by combining the Nomination Form for both Awards. Our Nominations Panel will then submit nominations for the various sportscotland COV Awards categories directly to them.
AWARD DESCRIPTIONS AND GUIDANCE NOTES
Coach of the Year – Senior and Junior/Young The undernoted coach categories relate to the sportscotland COV Awards categories for Coaches – Sports Council for Glasgow will select a Senior/Junior Coach of the Year from nominations across all of these categories.
Young Persons Coach Awarded to a coach who has made an outstanding contribution to the introduction and early development of sport for young people under the age of 18.
Community Coach Awarded to a coach supporting development of athletes or teams, who are in the main over the age of 18, and has significantly increased sporting opportunities available and participation levels within their community.
Performance Development Coach Awarded to a coach who, by using a player-centred approach, has ensured that athletes or teams with emerging talent have made an impact at district, regional, or national level.
Performance Coach Awarded to a coach working with athletes/ teams at highest level in their sport. The award looks for evidence of player-centred development leading to successful performance at highest level of Scottish, UK or international sport.
Young Coach Awarded to a coach aged 25 years or less, recognising their achievements to date. This award looks for young coaches who have invested in their coach development and made a significant impact on people they coach. Please note that the Junior Coach of the Year Sports Council for Glasgow age category is under 21. Dates of birth therefore require to be completed on the nomination form to be eligible for both the sportscotland and Sports Council Awards.
Disability Coach Awarded to a coach working with people with a disability. The award looks for evidence of player- centred development leading to successful performance of athletes or teams with a disability.

Volunteer (Junior under 21 / Senior over 21) These categories relate to the sportscotland COV Awards for Volunteers – Sports Council for Glasgow will select a Senior/Junior volunteer of the Year from nominations across these categories. Dates of birth therefore require to be completed on the nomination form to be eligible for both the sportscotland and Sports Council Awards.
Technical Official of The Year This category relates to the sportscotland COV Award category for Officials – Sports Council for Glasgow will select an official of the Year from these nominations. Awarded to a referee, umpire or match official who has demonstrated outstanding officiating commitment to their sport, officiating at local, regional, national or international level.
The following Categories relate to Sports Council for Glasgow awards only
Club of the Year (Development) Awarded to a club evidencing outstanding achievement in terms of developing infrastructure and displaying growth as a club during the year.
Club of the Year (Performance) Awarded to a club evidencing achievement of an outstanding level of success in competition during the year.
Disability Achievement Award (Junior under 21 / Senior over 21) Awarded to the person, or club making the biggest impact in Disability Sport. This could be at recreational, club or representative level and can be an athlete, coach, official or volunteer.
Outstanding individual Performance International (Junior under 21 /Senior over 21) Awarded to a person who has enjoyed outstanding individual performance in their sport at International or youth international level. This could be a person who has shown a series of performances throughout the year of a consistently high standard at international level or has won a major international event.
Outstanding individual Performance (Junior under 21 / Senior over 21) Awarded to a person who has enjoyed outstanding individual performances in their sport or who has shown the most improvement during the year. Not to be awarded to an athlete who has competed at international level in the 12 months prior to 4th September 2015.
Service to Sport Awarded to a person, or group of people, recognising their contribution to their sport, or sport in general over a number of years.
