Tentative Course Calendar for EDUC 4338, Fall 2009

WK = When Kids Can’t Read: What Teachers Can Do SM = Subjects Matter: Every Teacher’s Guide to Content-Area Reading DR = Deeper Reading: Comprehending Challenging Texts, 4-12

Please prepare for each class meeting by reading a total of three articles and/or chapters combined. If an article is listed at the top of the list, it is required for everyone. The appropriate chapters from your text are listed next. Choose from the additional articles to complete your set of three texts.

For example, before class on Sept. 21, everyone will read the Gallo article. The WK and SM book groups will also read two chapters from their texts, for a total of three articles/chapters. The DR book group only has one chapter to read for that day, so they will also read the Richison article.
