MORE OFFERTORY ENVELOPES COMING! We have had several calls at the Pastoral Center from people asking about the offertory envelopes. Due to the rising cost of postage, the envelope packets are being mailed on a quarterly basis. By doing this, we will be paying about the same amount of postage as last year. Your envelopes for the next quarter (April – June) should be coming soon! If you do not receive your packet by the 29th of March, please contact Louise at the Pastoral Center. FOR YOUR INFORMATION The tabernacle that was formerly housed at St. Joseph Church has been moved. Beginning next week, it will be used as the primary tabernacle at Holy Trinity Church. The baptismal font that was used for many years at St. Joseph Church will be placed in the sanctuary at Holy Trinity Church. It will be used from now on, when the sacrament of Baptism is celebrated.

HAVE A CELL PHONE YOU ARE NO LONGER USING? They can be donated to “Cell Phones for Soldiers”. Proceeds from donated cell phones are use to purchase prepaid calling cards for American troops. Father Becker has postage paid envelopes to mail them, so it won’t cost you anything. Just drop phones off at our Pastoral center at 235 N. Convent Street during office hours. CHRISTIAN SYMBOLS THAT SPEAK TO US The Alpha and the Omega

The ALPHA and the OMEGA are two letters of the Greek alphabet. The ALPHA is the first letter of the alphabet. The OMEGA is the last letter. These two letters are a symbol of God. They remind us that God is the beginning and end of all things. It is like saying that God is everything to us. God is everything from A to Z. RELIGIOUS FORMATION MARCH SCHEDULE AND APRIL

Holy Week

Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion. The theme is Jesus’s suffering and death recounted in the reading of the Passion. This is the day the Church celebrates the beginning of Jesus’s passage from life to death to new life: the Paschal Mystery. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of Holy Week are preparation days, both spiritually and physically, for the holy days to come later in the week. Holy Thursday begins the Triduum, which from the 4th century celebrated the Paschal Mystery. The Holy Thursday ritual includes a ceremonial washing of feet. It imitates Jesus’s Last Supper action of humility and service. At the end of the Holy Thursday liturgy, the consecrated Body of Christ is carried in procession with incense and song to an altar of reposition. (It will be received by the faithful on Good Friday at Holy Communion.) The altar and sanctuary are then stripped: an anticipation of the suffering and death of Jesus. The altar, symbolic of Christ, is stripped in silence. Those present leave in silence. Good Friday is the anniversary of the death of Jesus. The origin of the term “Good” emphasizes the saving value of the crucifixion of Jesus. On this one day of the year, the Eucharist is not celebrated in its usual form of the Mass. The Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday rich in rite and symbol celebrates the coming resurrection of Jesus. The lighting of a new Easter fire, the lighting of the Easter or Paschal Candle, the Initiation of Catechumens all takes place during this Easter Vigil liturgy.

As we continue to celebrate the holy season of Lent, please be aware of the following:  Stations of the Cross which begin at 6:30 pm. There will be no Stations of the Cross prayed on Good Friday evening.  A parish Lenten Reconciliation Service is scheduled for Thursday, March 25 at 6:30 pm.  The holy water fonts have been removed. This is a reminder to us of our journey into the desert as we prepare for the joy of Easter and new life in the waters of Baptism.  There will be No Song of Sending Forth at the weekend Masses. Father and the servers will exit in silence. Please respectfully wait until Father and the servers have left the church. Please leave in silence.
