18Brooke Monte, won the U.S. National Snow Sculpting Competition on Saturday, February 4,

192012 in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin; and

20 WHEREAS, Team Vermont became Vermont State Champions at Vermont's officially

21sanctioned snow sculpture competition at Burlington’s Winter Festival in 2011; and

22 WHEREAS, Team Vermont was judged by 15 other championship state teams with their

23“Inner Piece” design and brought Vermont its first national snow sculpting title; and

24 WHEREAS, with the support of Kombi Sports, Switchback Brewery, Harpoon Brewing,

25Dostie Brothers Frame Shop, VermontSEO.com, and the Burlington Parks and Recreation

26Department, Team Vermont brought their Vermont spirit to Wisconsin, raising the consciousness

27of the spectators and other competitors with a seemingly impossible design perfecting the

28intense, grueling and extreme art of competitive snow sculpturing; and

29 WHEREAS, upon winning the national competition Team Vermont received a Trophy

30Invitation to compete in the 2013 Italian International Snow Sculpting Competition, sanctioned

31by Association International de Sculpture surNeigeet Glace in Corso Italia of Cortina

38 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Council express its

39congratulations to the Team Vermont for their accomplishment and wishes all team members

40the very best of success in the future competition; and

41 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk’s Office is requested to present

42certified copies of this resolution to each of the members of the Team Vermont.
