Hiren Shah, MD

Hiren Shah, MD is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University and a Medical Director of the Cardiac Telemetry Unit at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL. He is a practicing hospitalist and has also held numerous leadership positions in the Division of Hospital Medicine including Associate Director and Director of Clinical Affairs. In addition, he has been designated as a fellow in hospital medicine by the Society of Hospital Medicine and is a member of their national Chapter Support Committee.

Dr. Shah has a strong interest in hospital quality and patient safety and has led and participated in numerous process and quality improvement projects at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He is the physician leader in their Reduction of Venous Thromboembolism Initiative and has spoken at regional medical society meetings on the issue. He sits on the Department of Medicine Quality Improvement Committee and the Medicine Safety Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.

Dr. Shah completed a B.A. in Neuroscience from the University of Pennsylvania, and an M.D. degree from Drexel University School of Medicine. He completed his medical residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and also holds an M.B.A. degree from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University where he majored in Management of Organizations, Health Industry Management and Organizational Strategy.
