If it does not autorun, on your computer, navigate to CD/DVD drive and double click on the icon. Allow it to run if prompted d. After a few minutes (it seems like nothing is happening), the Horizon install program appears. e. Choose “Install Horizon 7.5” f. Choose “Install Horizon Client” g. You may get a message that Java needs to be installed. If so, accept this choice. h. Click Next, then Next. Accept all defaults i. Agree to the license agreement. j. After accepting the license agreement, click next. k. Administration and Staff should be checked on the left and AdHoc Reports on the right. Uncheck the other options on the right. l. Click Next, then Next. m. Click Finish, but don’t click the box to “Start Horizon.” n. You should be back in the “browser” screen, with the option to Install Horizon 7.5. Click on that option, then on Third Party Products. o. Back at the screen that shows the third party products, choose “Microsoft Open Client” p. Choose all the defaults to install this, and if prompted to restart, go ahead.
2. Final Details a. After the restart go to Start and choose “All Programs” b. Find Microsoft SQL Server, and click on Client Network Utility c. Go to the Alias tab. d. Click Add e. This should happen only the first time you use Horizon on your login on this computer. f. For Server, Horizon should be in the blank. g. For Login, type PLAStaff (or your library’s 3-letter location code plus the word Staff). Capitalization doesn’t matter. No spaces. h. For Password, type hzstaff i. Now you are back to the main login. Choose horizon for the Database blank. If you wish to increase font size, click Options and make changes there. Click OK to login. j. The first time any fines pop up, you will see a dialog box for the “cash drawer.” Fill in anything in the blanks and click OK.
If you get a middle-tier error, you will need to uninstall Java from your computer and install the version (6) on the disk.
