Job Role Alcohol and Drug Sessional Worker Description: Hourly Rate of £8.75 to £9.85 depending on experience Pay: Hours of Work: For negotiation Hours of Work: For negotiation Job Purpose: Working within the Christian ethos and aims of the YMCA, to provide quality activities to children and or adults, in and for the benefit of the Glenrothes and Fife communities Responsible to: YMCA staff Glenrothes Responsible for: Children, young adults, vulnerable adults (please refer to key duties and responsibilities)
Location YMCA Glenrothes Headquarters – North Street Glenrothes and occasionally locations in Glenrothes and Fife (excursions)
Key Duties and To be responsible for the delivery of Alcohol and Drug sessional Responsibilities: programmes for YZ Choices and Thinking Differently. To:
1. Oversee and develop work with young people and adults in the local community. 2. Help young people and adults learn about the effects of drugs and alcohol in a creative and dynamic way. 3. Identify the needs of local young people and adults in and provide a range of social education activities which aim to meet these needs. 4. Network with local voluntary and statutory youth providers to build working partnerships which respond to local needs 5. Deliver and evaluate informal group sessions with young people and adults. 6. Through service delivery to actively promote drug and alcohol services to partners and community groups. 7. Work within the ethos of YMCA Glenrothes. 8. Any other related duties as from time to time may be required
Additionally: To Support the YMCA Glenrothes staff Team in creating a supportive and participatory working environment. Be accountable for designated resources and for reporting on defects for any YMCA Glenrothes equipment/materials/premises. Work flexible hours, including evenings and occasional weekend work. The post-holder will be expected to carry out other duties from time to time which are broadly consistent with the duties as detailed above and help to ensure the highest standards are maintained in every area of the operation of Housing Services.

Essential Desirable relevant health qualification KNOWLEDGE/ Substantial delivery of relevant i.e. drugs /alcohol QUALIFICATIONS: thematic work (either drugs/alcohol/sexual health Youth Work qualification and/or youth work) Community Learning and Development qualification
EXPERIENCE: Experience of issue based Multi-agency working. work Experience working within the Experience of using own voluntary sector. initiative in service delivery
Experience of delivery of sessional delivery to young people.
Well-developed ABILITIES/ communication skills, both Understanding of drug and SKIILLS: verbal and written. alcohol issues.
Ability to contribute to the on- Understanding of youth going development of issues programmes
Understanding of professional roles and responsibilities and boundaries.
Proven ability to build rapport with young people
SPECIAL Driving licence. REQUIREMENTS: Flexible working
