Teacher name: Ms K. Curtis-Jones (Ms S. Larkin Sep- end of Feb covering mat leave) Timetabled periods: 2 classes per week Monday period 4 and Thursday period 3 in computer room Occasional periods to be used for preparation for the E4U project

Mission Statement

TY French in RCS aims to increase the student’s ability to express himself/herself in French and to make students aware of the way of life in France. The following aims and objectives are informed by this statement.

Aims

 Encourage an interest in France and the Francophone world.  Increase awareness and knowledge of French not usually on the JC and LC curricula.  To give students an appreciation of the richness and diversity of the different regions of France.  Broaden range of vocabulary.  Improve reading and listening skills (either from 1st year level or develop skills for LC).

Objectives

Students will be able to:  Display awareness and knowledge of French and Francophone ways of life.  Develop French through listening to authentic French DVDs.  Read and listen to either an intermediate or beginner’s level text.  Explore French customs/traditions, particularly Halloween and Christmas.  Identify major tourist attractions and know the importance of these to French history and culture.  Recognise examples of French music.  Read and produce a French menu.  Prepare a French meal.
