Hillingdon Interfaith Network Executive meeting 7 th January 2009

Present: Duncan, Mike, Harjinder, David, Chris, Nicky, Fiona

1) Minutes of the last meeting Updates: chaplaincy meeting: Harjinder is still trying to arrange.

2) Network meeting: Venue -- Islamic centre unavailable. St Anselm's Church in Hayes has offered to host the next meeting. Apologies from Mike in advance for the meeting. Can executive members check contact lists and provide updates and any new contacts to Duncan.

3) Emergency planning Duncan to speak to David Pignon to set a new date for meeting.

4) London week of peace Hillingdon Interfaith network will still coordinate this year's event and link in with partners from the stronger communities group to organise activities. Members of the executive mentioned that we should ensure David’s walk involves more groups this year.

Duncan also mentioned that there was to be an interfaith week during November this year.

5) Grassroots funding An application for funding had been submitted for grassroots funding. Decisions should be made in the next few days.

Duncan told the group that in order to apply for funding they needed to have an equal opportunities policy in place. Duncan shared with the group a draft of the policy.

6) Finances Unfortunately Tunde was not at the meeting but Duncan was able to update the meeting as regards current balance being approximately £2500 in the bank account.

7) Newsletter Duncan asked for feedback with regard to the newsletter that he e-mails to members before Christmas feedback was positive from the group. Amir asked that any documents regarding the network be posted to him, as e- mail was not always accessible. 8) Middle East events Discussion was held with regards a statement or press release on behalf of the network with regards the recent events in the Middle East. It was agreed that the statement be sent to all councillors and Hillingdon partners including the Borough Cmdr and the local press. The statement should include a list of all executive members. Fiona and Duncan to action.

Chris said that he would be linking up with different communities at this time to reassure and offer support.

9) Climate change consultation Duncan has invited officers from the Council to attend the next network meeting to discuss this consultation.

10) Faith breakfast meeting 4th February Topic for this breakfast will be faith and finance. Fiona and Duncan to arrange.

Date of the next meeting 24th of February from 10 AM to 12 PM, Conservative office, Civic Centre.
