Cap and Gown Chronology May 2010

Following is a chronology of the events associated with the May 2010 commencement ceremonies.  February 16th Tuesday through April 09th Friday

We will take reservations for academic attire (caps and gowns) rental on line, over the phone (add $5.00 phone service fee), in person at the Service Counter in the Hard Lines Department, and at the Service Counter at the Health Science Learning Center Book Store location for the May 2010 commencement ceremonies.  March 12th Friday

Last day to order purchase academic attire to arrive in time for May 2010 ceremony.

 April 09th Friday

Last Official Day for reserving academic attire.  April 10 Saturday through April 12 Monday

Days of Grace. Customers may come in these three additional days after the official deadline and reserve academic attire without penalty.  April 13 Tuesday through April 20 Tuesday

Regular Rentals are closed – Late rental period is now operative.

 All Candidates and Faculty - Late Rental Period. Customer orders, pays rental fee & late fee, and reserves academic attire for pick up in May.  April 21 Wednesday

All cap and gown orders are on hiatus.

 Bachelors – See May 05.  Professional degree candidates and Faculty - See May 12 @ 2:00 p.m.  May 05 Wednesday

* Walk-In cap and gown rental period begins for bachelor’s candidates. Candidates order, pay rental fee & late fee, and pick up academic attire - at 711 State Street only. Continues through 12:00 noon on Friday May 14th.

 May 12 Wednesday & 13 Thursday

9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. – both days – Distribution of pre-reserved academic attire. * May 12 Wednesday @ 2:00 p.m. Faculty, Master’s and Doctor’s candidate walk-in program begins. Continues through 7:00 p.m. on Thursday May 13.

Faculty and candidates come in to order, pay rental fee & late fee, and pick up academic attire - at 711 State Street only. Continues through 7:00 p.m. on Thursday May 13.

 May 14th Friday

Cap and Gown pick up continues through 11:00 a.m. on Friday morning.

11:00 a.m. – we pack up everything not picked up by this time and take it to the Kohl Center, Gate A, level one for pick up there.

a. Attire will be ready an hour before each ceremony for pick up at the Kohl Center. b. Any late walk-ins should be sent to Gate A for attire. c. All rental cap and gown problems will be handled at Gate A.

 May 15 Saturday & May 16 Sunday

Ceremonies continue at the Kohl Center. All academic attire returns should be done there. Returns that do come to 711 will be done at the Art Counter in the Hard Lines Department.

 May 17 Monday & beyond

Customers return academic attire to 711 officially. Initially, returns will be done in the Text Book Department on the lower level. When business has subsided, the operation will be moved from the Text Book Department to the Hard Lines Service Counter on the First floor.
