We have maintained our district grade of a C even in the face of all the challenges the new FCAT 2.0 test presented statewide. As your Superintendent, I will not stop working on improving our schools until we have reached all of our children and helped them to become college and career ready. Under my leadership, we have created a new district-level team that will be responsible for working with all of our schools to improve teacher quality and student proficiency. This year, Florida received permission to waive some of the requirements of the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act. This resulted in changes to several public school programs. One of the changes prevents the district from using federal funds to pay for bus transportation for students who have selected to be in the School Choice with Transportation program. Children who are already in the program will be allowed to stay at the choice school until they reach the last grade offered at the school or they can choose to return to their home school. No new children will be placed into this program. If a child chooses to return to their home school they will not be allowed to return to the choice school at a later date. Even though transportation cannot be provided any longer for this program with federal funds, I am making a commitment to you and your child that the district will pay for the transportation of your child to remain at the choice school until they reach the highest grade the school offers. This will be at no cost to you. Our records show that your child currently attends [ ] and is in the [ ] grade. If you wish your child to stay at this choice school, please contact Mrs. Joanne Kimble at 850-626-9651 extension 1285 and she will work with you and the Transportation Department to ensure that your child is provided transportation to the school of his/her choice. You will need to provide this information to the district by no later than August 27, 2012. Estimado padre,

Soy feliz al informe que como nos acercamos a la apertura de otro año escolar en el Condado de Gadsden, hemos seguido aumentar el dominio estudiantil en todo el distrito. Hemos mantenido nuestro grado de distrito una c incluso ante todas las pruebas de retos el nuevo 2.0 FCAT presentadas en todo el estado. Como el Superintendente, no se detendrá trabajando en mejorar nuestras escuelas hasta que hemos llegado todos nuestros niños y les ayudó a convertirse en la Universidad y carrera listo. Bajo mi liderazgo, hemos creado un nuevo equipo de nivel de distrito que será responsable de trabajar con todas nuestras escuelas para mejorar la competencia de calidad y estudiante de maestro.

Este año, Florida recibió permiso para renunciar a algunos de los requisitos de la ley ningún niño izquierda atrás (NCLB). Esto dio como resultado cambios a varios programas de la escuela pública. Uno de los cambios impide que el distrito utilizar fondos federales para pagar el transporte de autobús para los estudiantes que han seleccionado para estar en la elección de la escuela con el programa de transporte.
