BEGINNER: 1. Go to kidsastronomy.com on the Internet. Choose Solar System. Click on Make a Solar System at the very bottom of the menu on the left. Make a model of our Solar System. 1. Include one of each planet, and the asteroid belt. 2. Add a comet. 3. Answer questions 1 thru 4 on the Solar System Scavenger Hunt.
2. Complete 6 more questions from the Solar System Scavenger Hunt. You may use the websites listed above, and/or others you find yourselves.
GOOD: 1. Finish the Solar System Scavenger Hunt (questions 1 thru 14).
2. Play a Solar System knowledge game. You can choose from the 2 listed below. Solar System Shuffle located in the starchild website (see above) under Solar System Activities. Solar System Trading cards located in ‘amazingspace’. Search the web for Solar System Trading Cards to go directly to this activity.
EXPERT: 1. Play the Tails of Wonder Game at http://kids.msfc.nasa.gov. You can search for it by typing “Tails of Wonder” into any search engine. Be sure to read the article before starting the game.
2. Make a table comparing comets and asteroids in the space provided on page 3 of the Solar System Scavenger Hunt.
3. Look up information about the space topic you find most interesting. Write a letter to the Wizard (at least half a page with 3 or more facts) sharing some of what you learn. Tell the WIZ why this subject is interesting to you. August 29, 2005
